Ive seen you post on another thread regarding your son and wanted to offer another perspective. If you want him on a higher pathway, Im in the opinion of avoiding satellite branches of clubs. The highest pathway City East County will most likely offer is what they have now. They already have MLS and ECNL at their more established clubs up north. hypothetically if your son does get fast tracked that route, how much do you really want to drive to San Marcus to practice?

It is my opinion that this is the crux of why East County can't hold a decent club when there is absolutely the talent pool. Anyone great either gets pulled to the main hub for the club or they leave to get a more direct pathway to the letter league they want. Albion couldn't keep their hold in east county and City/ East County Surf/ East County rebels/ SD rush/ sporting CA are all mostly the same leadership, just rotating club names trying to find solid footing. Obviously this is nuanced and a good coach is a good coach. MM who is now at City East County seems to have a solid fan base and I have heard he is a great coach who develops great players.

That being said, Sporting SD and Crusaders are following steady with their path and have seen exponential growth the past few years. both clubs have created pathways to keep their payers in their clubs. No club is perfect but I think in East County it speaks volumes that two smaller homegrown clubs have truly outsmarted the Goliaths that have tried to come in to claim their piece of east county.

We were very excited when our son was offered a position on the Crusaders NL1 team, and we gladly accepted. What stood out even more, though, was the conversation we had with the coach. It was the first time in a long while that we heard such honest and thoughtful feedback about our son.
He spoke openly with my wife and me about both his strengths and the areas where he can improve. But what truly meant the most was something beyond his technical ability—he recognized qualities in our son that no other coach had mentioned before. He said he could tell our son is being raised by good parents and that he has a big heart.
He complimented us on raising a respectful young man and expressed that he would love the opportunity to mentor and coach him.

Sounds like a great situation.
Hopefully they aren’t spreading themselves thin with ea2 and nl1.

What age group is this?

Thank you for the very well thought out response. We do feel more comfortable with the foundation at SPorting v City EC. If last years EA2 team showed us anything, its that JA and MM are all about hording talent to best benefit them. Even the 2010 team had/has some really good skill that should have been playing higher.

Not sure if he found some new players, but the majority of those kids were on a bad flight 1 team last year, with the striker being a really good EA2 kid and the 10 being Jason's son, who is serviceable, but not amazing. The keeper Evan is very good. Puts a lot of time into his game.

They definitely hid some really good kids last year. The keeper from the EA2 team will be on MLS HD this year. Four others will be on AD (SHould be more, but thats another matter)
