Can we talk about the new Surf kit?

In a crying voice "I don't want to wear the new kit. It looks so bad."

My DDs entire team wants to move to a new club so they don't have to wear the new Surf kits.

Lets start with what they got right. The wave only lasted one year. That white jersey looked so nice, until they put that ugly logo on the front instead of the Surf name. Looks like they learned their lesson and put Surf on the front again.

Now, what they got wrong...

Most egregious to my DD. "Dad, the blue training shirt. IT HAS WHITE SLEEVES!" In my son's words "What is that? Are we serious? That is terrible."

Then there are two different royal blue shorts. We know the affiliate program is all about the money they make off of the kits. But making people buy two different royal blue shorts. Are you freaking kidding me?

And then there is the baby blue. Where do we even start with this?

How about that this was part of the kit, then they got rid of it, and now it is back. Luckily I still have some of those socks left. but there are a lot of people feeling like they have to re-buy something that they gave to Goodwill 12 months ago.

How about that Nike doesn't do Man City anymore and that was the whole point of the baby blue.

How about that the boys teams refused to wear it last time around and wore their training kits in games. There just aren't a lot of middle and high school boys who want to sport that on the field. Even my DD doesn't want to wear it.

Just wear a white long sleeve stretch dri-fit underneath and it will look like your kids are wearing a sleeveless training top like a badass.

The only thing that I don't like is that "Wave" logo and honestly I had no idea what it was supposed to be until reading this post. Everything else looks solid.

Isn't a 2 year uniform cycle pretty standard? I believe they made changes last year. Or am I blending the "covid" year together? I know people that ordered uniforms in the summer for the fall season that didn't show up until October.

I don’t think it would be as bad if they didn’t mix and match the logo on the tops. One has text and the other is a logo by itself. Big no no when we talk about branding and advertising. If you went with just the surf text or just the wave across all uniforms then it would work better. My 2 cents..

The wave logo works for Southern California Surf and affiliates. I don't know how well it is received in Omaha or Memphis (I just picked two mid-continent cities at random -- if there are no Surf affiliates in or near those cities then someone is slacking in their job).

I like it. The away kit looks like the Man City kit, and the training kit with white sleeves looks like Arsenal's kit but in blue.

If you just add an airline or a gambling company's name they will totally look like Premier League kits.

Mike Whittaker…guerilla marketing at its best!

I'll all about clubs having a distinct look. The kits today are so generic for youth teams.

Look at Juventus, Barcelona, Athletico Madrid, Arsenal....they give an edge to your squad to have distinct look.

These t-shirt looking kits are lame. Probably for money purposes.

Are they going to keep the name/location on the back neck area like the current uniforms?? Cause that helps out to know who's who when walking up to a field and seeing a Surf team playing.
