Just wondering why SDSC isn’t ECNL for girls when it is for boys. Usually MLSnext clubs go GA. Since SDSC boys are ECNL, you would think the girls would be too.

Del Mar Surf doesnt want them to be. Its how for girls they keep one toe in each league. You saw this on display during the DA days.Just wondering why SDSC isn’t ECNL for girls when it is for boys. Usually MLSnext clubs go GA. Since SDSC boys are ECNL, you would think the girls would be too.
For boys SDSC not getting MLSN is City not wanting another boys club to compete with in the area. Also MLSN + GA dont want to lose leverage over Del Mar Surf. (To get MLSN they'd need to play their girls in GA)
Complicated and stupid but thats how things work when theres crazy amounts of money involved.
Basically everyone from a big club perspective has maxed out the amount of money they can make. Surf does it with ECNL and City does it with MLSN + GA. Smaller clubs like SDSC dont really get to pick the leagues they play in. Being successful and winning helps but it needs to align with league wants and needs.Del Mar Surf doesnt want them to be. Whats frustrating is theres so many players that get overlooked because the big clubs/leagues funnel players into their top teams. Which sounds logical but theres all kinds of reasons a player might not be considered. Which gives aweful coaches fifedoms. You can guess where things go next.
