I know I haven't been on the forum for very long, but this is very disappointing behavior from adults. It's kids playing soccer! Yet, it seems that folks on here are not that surprised and make it seem like this happens all the time, it's just that this team got caught. After reading this, I looked up that team's history and they have been beating teams by a lot all season and winning trophies. Maybe not all the parents knew, but some of them obviously did, how could they enjoy those wins? It's all so tainted now. Does this really happen often and in the younger ages? For what?

I looked too, and they have won almost all season. Is there multiple 05 players? Or one? Did that one player score all the goals or some game changer? I have no idea if this has happened before? How sad for the other teammates to find out they have been disqualified, I doubt the kids were in on it.

It happens more than you think.
Sincerely,
Danny Almonte

All i know now is whoever is still playing next weekend better have their stuff absolutely perfect or you are going home. I heard they are getting a birth certificate scanner for forgeries, passport no fly list and school ID card verification. Im kidding they won't have the school ID verify

What about the repercussions, official and otherwise? Of course it would all be speculation, but it seems crazy stuff like this has happened before so there will be a precedent?

Discipline to team? To coach? To player/parents?

Beyond that, what exactly was the long game for the parents of the ineligible player? Beat up on 2006s with the hope of what? Development??? LOL. Usually you'd want your player to play UP against olders to be challenged, not DOWN against youngers.

With DA/ECNL options for the 2006s coming up in a few seasons you would imagine that at some point she'd be considered for one of these teams, and then what? "Hey, sorry we've been playing in the wrong age division, do you have a spot open on your 2005 team?" Getting one coach (this year's coach) to knowingly go along with it, but getting more coaches along the line? Wouldn't that affect your family and your player's reputation?

No wonder I saw Surf players driving themselves from the game.

If this were an sweat shop, they'd be past their prime already.

Yo' playa so old, her birth certificate is in Roman numerals..

Yo' playa's so old, when the teacher asked her to floss, she took out her dental floss...

Las year in presidents cup BU10 a player from laguna played with Laguna in the morning and LAUFA in the afternoon or next day. They got disqualified, but both teams are in 06 semi finals. Not sure what discipline they had to face. Apparently not strict enough to dissuade this unethical behavior to win games. What kind of example are these adults setting for the youth today.

But is it common to do this all season like this? It's frustrating to see how many comments there were that this has been known for months and whoever had this info didn't say anything. I would never allow my daughter to play on a team or for a coach that allowed this. In fact I would've pulled my kid off the field as soon as the coach started flying around like an airplane after a goal. I'm sorry for the parents that truly didn't know, sorry for the kids that didn't. Winning isn't worth it if you did know, be very ashamed.

I just found out the player who they think is 05 she is a defender and just FYI she has never scored a goal for us. But if it is true this is ridiculous I get that her parents only speak Spanish but they should know better. She also has played with this team for 2 years so that means other parents had to have known. I can't believe they would do this.

Funny you say the defender...........cousin of the Mid.........Now wonder PA could not recruit the Midfielder, she was joined at the hip with her cousin the defender and even the great recruiter PA had to pass on that DUO..............Smart on PA's part....and I know he knew that at the beginning of the season for a fact!!!!!

It's official this is now the funniest thread ever in this forum.
So much material!

If this is true, perhaps Cal South takes a closer look at birth certs?

We played before in an alternative/side league where there seemed to be a lot of "flexibility" and "range". It wasn't Cal South or SCDSL, needless to say. I'm always a bit suspicious when parents are physically small, and kids are larger with respect to peers (as compared to parents to their peers), with respect to age, and low-and-behold, they "pop-up" with a January (or early year) birth date, and are just a bit more coordinated (sometimes not even this -- sometimes they're still less coordinated/slower than the better players). Things that make you go hmm... but I would definitely hesitate to convict anyone without proof.

Either way, truth is that nature catches up and balances out, and even if they are simply "early bloomers", you can't buck genetics, and you're going to end up playing the hand you're dealt, and your upside as far as physical size development (and any resultant age-based coordination bump you received early on) is over already, and the other child/player that is competitive at that younger age range within the bracket will develop more (and play better with more upside still to come) and will be better in the longer term future. You see this in other sports also in very similar fashion.

"FYI she has never scored a goal for us"...that means absolutely nothing in terms of impact. Come on now you are showing your ignorance of the game. Does scoring goals determine your impact on the game? You look at these final four teams each of them has some of the most impactful players in this age group in the back.

Boy, I thought I was jaded before...this really cements it. It makes me so sad when I hear about this. I know Anaheim Surf mostly from all the tournaments they host. This just leaves a bad taste for me for the entire organization. How did this get past the registrar of the club? DOC is ultimately the one to blame in my eyes--know what is happening on your teams man!!

For all those who did know, shame on them. For all the families/kids who didn't know...its devastating to have worked so hard and have this happen. I feel for those who are innocent....but coach/manger had to have known? Unless they had falsified birth certificates? Its just wrong! My daughter is an 05, and she is small for her age, and at this age 11/12 girls really start to sprout...we have played some team with HUGE girls who look like they could drive, and I always joke..."I want to see their Birth Certificate" ....maybe now I actually should...seeing as people are doing it (not just for 1 game or tournament but for entire seasons!) Just wrong and shame on them.

You can argue good defensive play throughout the field is more important to actually winning. Furthermore, good defense, countering, and proper build-up play keys the offense, and often can be at least partially credited or blamed for a team's ability to score or not score. Moreover, every position plays offense and defense anyway you cut it.
