East County Soccer Dad
SILVER ELITE
Seems like as soon as his teams are done with state cup:It's a matter of when, not if
Don’t think he’ll finish the EA season

I would guess it's due to the EA Director and SN leaving. Perhaps simply no replacement yet or re-organizing.Interesting. New staff page up. No EA Director. No East County director. Wonder if they are scrapping it
I believe Ale has now been named EA directorI would guess it's due to the EA Director and SN leaving. Perhaps simply no replacement yet or re-organizing.
The bar is pretty low from the last EA director so hopefully he can improve the program. Is it a coincidence that the 3 lowest ranked Albion EA teams all had the same coach and practiced at one of the worst fields in SD?I believe Ale has now been named EA director
As for east county, seems dead in the water
Have never heard a positive take on Marco, but lots of negatives. The bar is pretty low from the last EA director so hopefully he can improve the program. Is it a coincidence that the 3 lowest ranked Albion EA teams all had the same coach and practiced at one of the worst fields in SD?
At least they've fixed the field situation by moving to Hickman; I understand ML preferred Robb for some reason. They're running lots of scrimmages in the B10-14 age groups right now, so hopefully the teams will be more competitive next year. I'm more concerned that they restore a real "pathway", as EA was an island to itself--not much movement up from Academy or to MLSN the past few years. The bar is pretty low from the last EA director so hopefully he can improve the program. Do you expect a lot of transition of teams with ea2 kids going up a level or two?At least they've fixed the field situation by moving to Hickman; I understand ML preferred Robb for some reason. Looks like the EA2 team had some mixed results this weekend in Orange County. Not sure the skill is there for MLSNDo you expect a lot of transition of teams with ea2 kids going up a level or two?
I think the club has a lot to sort out with the matrix change in all age groups and at every level. If your player is already guesting or training with a higher level team then chances are they are in the mix. External players have also been training with the AD and HG teams recently so a lot of moving pieces.Do you expect a lot of transition of teams with ea2 kids going up a level or two?
Scrimmages are great, but seems these are primarily to prep for Spring Season than to truly evaluate players. At least they've fixed the field situation by moving to Hickman; I understand ML preferred Robb for some reason. No, but that's based on my personal experience with Albion, where almost no kids move up (or down) between teams. Rather, entire teams are moved under the Albion brand (e.g., MM's squad) or external kids are poached from other clubs.Do you expect a lot of transition of teams with ea2 kids going up a level or two?
Seems this is consistent with all big clubs. Why lose the revenue of kicking a player down when you can placate them, bring in outside players and increase your revenue. Eventually good players catch on. There are always exceptions of course. No, but that's based on my personal experience with Albion, where almost no kids move up (or down) between teams. I had hoped things would be different this year with the age re-alignment. It seems that they have made some decisions for U14 (I've seen kids moved between EA/EA2 for next season), but U15 and U16 seem to remain up in the air. Notably, they've set up a U16 EA2 team in their app, although with no coach. They previously only had an EA squad for B11.
To be fair, given that AN and AM were only handed their respective EA/EA2 squads in the past few weeks/months, they need time to evaluate the current rosters before considering which kids to move up/out and talk to the coaches of teams with kids that might be a better fit for the EA squads. Unfortunately the institutional memory that ML and SN had for this age group literally walked out the door.

And don't be surprised if some of those MLS slots have already been verbally committed to ECNL players. With the age change seeing lots of ECNL players working to jump to MLS I or II if need be for the "path".
ECNL + other league players will be better off jumping over to MLS HG now because both leagues are BY. Next year ECNL oldest players per level will be 8/1 because of SY and MLS HG will be 7 months older 1/1 because they stayed BY.Why do you think the age change will make boys hop over?
Or is it just that the players (parents) have come to the realization that the MLS HG teams are just that much better than the ECNL teams?

Most teen boys view MLSN as the top tier. As Carlsbad said, the age change is a big shift that gives them a chance to move. And it's already happening, Surf & Rebels players training with MLSN I & II teams. A few Legends SD players too. I know a couple who have offers already for April.ECNL + other league players will be better off jumping over to MLS HG now because both leagues are BY.
