MAGA, let’s be honest: We all know the reason Donald Trump and so many of you can’t move on from Barack Obama is because an intelligent, articulate, highly popular Black man became president — and it absolutely broke all of you.
We’re 18 years removed from Obama’s 2008 victory, and you all still haven’t been able to recover.
And let’s face another fact about your orange messiah, Trump: His obsession — call it Obama Derangement Syndrome, if you will — comes from the fact that he knows, deep down, our 44th president is better than him in every way possible.
He’s more intelligent and more respected. He’s a better husband, father, and friend, and damn sure a better president. Barack Obama is given the type of respect Donald Trump spends nearly every day trying to force and bully others into pretending to give him.
And I know you’ll say that’s all ridiculous and none of it’s true. Except, it is. Which is why, even though Obama hasn’t been in office for nearly a decade, this president still brings him up all the damn time.
Hell, why do you all think he’s so obsessed with the Nobel Peace Prize?
Because Barack Obama has one and he doesn’t — that’s why.
Trump’s jealousy is so overwhelming that it’s made him obsessed with an award for no other reason than he can’t stand that Obama has one and he doesn’t.
It’s pathetic.
But back to Obama’s 2008 win. That single victory triggered the Tea Party, which was really the first step toward the cult you all have since become, and the years of embracing one conspiracy after another to justify the total and complete nonsense so many of you claim to believe.
Fringe lunatics such as Alex Jones, Candace Owens, Laura Loomer, and Nick Fuentes are now part of the “Republican mainstream.”
You know: Jones and his claims that Sandy Hook was staged with actors; Owens, who claims the French president’s wife is actually a man; Fuentes, the white supremacist who denies the Holocaust; and Loomer, who hasn’t met a crazy or racist conspiracy she didn’t believe to be true.
A Black man’s victory took you guys down a path that’s so incredibly unhinged that the late Charlie Kirk, someone you all viewed as a leader among conservative voices, built a large part of his brand calling MLK a “terrible person” and the Civil Rights Act one of the “biggest mistakes” in the country’s history.
And I don’t want to hear about how “radical the left” has become, because that’s all a lie.
As I’ve pointed out before, at our last presidential convention, we had presidents dating back to 1992 speaking on behalf of Kamala Harris — all while Trump couldn’t even get his former vice president to speak for him. In fact, there was basically no Republican representation at the 2024 RNC from before the Trump era. That’s how radical the party has become over the past few years.
Meanwhile, Democrats can go back decades because we still have the same values today that we had back then: improving access to health care, opposing tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of everyone else, supporting workers’ rights, protecting vulnerable groups of Americans, combating climate change, and having the government invest in helping Americans rather than big corporations.
Again, I know no member of MAGA will ever admit that Trump and their cult are envious and jealous of Barack Obama — or that the victory of a Black man and his family to the White House completely broke their party — but that doesn’t mean it’s not true.
Obama’s victory broke the GOP to such an extent that it sent you all down a path that started with the Tea Party and spawned the birther conspiracy, which Trump built his entire political brand on. It all led to the entire Republican Party completely selling itself out to one of the most despicable, dishonest, pathological liars and con artists on the planet, all because he fed you the right-wing fan fiction and hate you all thrive on.
And you don’t need to believe me — just look at what Republicans such as Ted Cruz, the late Lindsey Graham, JD Vance, and Marco Rubio all said about Trump when they weren’t having to suck up to him to maintain their political careers. This was back before MAGA took over the entire party and gave this president the power to end Republican careers with one social media post because the cult is going to do what Trump tells them to.
Back when they called him a con artist, a pathological liar, a fraud, a really bad person, “America’s Hitler,” and all sorts of other insults.
Then go look at what Republicans who no longer need to bow down to Trump have to say about him, with many of those individuals now calling him a pathological liar, a fraud, a really bad person, and all sorts of similar insults.
It’s almost as if there’s a correlation between Republicans praising Trump only when they’re hoping to further their political careers, yet once that’s no longer a concern, that’s when you hear the truth about what they really think about him — which all sounds oddly similar to what the rest of us have been saying about Trump since long before he launched his political campaign in 2015.
So you all can deny everything I’ve said here all you want, but I don’t really give a damn. The facts are the facts, and we have the receipts.
In 2008, the entire Republican Party broke, all because a smart, well-spoken, highly educated, very respected Black man and his family moved into the White House — and Donald Trump will live out the rest of his life in a state of petty jealousy because he will never be even a fraction of the man Barack Obama is, nor will he ever be as respected or admired as our 44th president.
He’ll go to his grave suffering from Obama Derangement Syndrome.
