It’s sad how basically everything MAGA believes Donald Trump to be is nothing but a delusion that exists only in their minds.
A “brilliant businessman”: multiple bankruptcies; nearly every one of his businesses has failed; a “charity” shut down for fraud; more lawsuits than anyone can keep up with for trying to screw over small businesses and contractors; and a university he had to shut down and pay millions to victims after it was ruled to be a scam. He’s nothing but a con artist.
A “master negotiator”: Literally, his only “strategy” when negotiating is to try to abuse whatever power he has to force people into doing what he wants. If he can’t, he has no other tactics. Russia has blown off every attempt by him to end the war with Ukraine, even though he’s done nothing but bow down to Putin. He’s come nowhere close to his pledge of “90 deals in 90 days,” which he made well over a year ago, and he doesn’t even talk about anymore. And the war in Iran is an absolute disaster. Even the deal he did announce last month was much worse than what we had under Obama. He might actually be the worst negotiator I’ve ever seen — the kind of person who would trash and tear up a deal only to negotiate one that’s worse in every way, all due to his ego and inability to admit that someone else did something better.
A “Christian”: As a Christian myself, I don’t mince words when it comes to this. If you actually believe Trump is a Christian, f*ck off with that — you’re an absolute idiot. I don’t know if there’s a person who is less Christian than this president. The man shared an image of himself as Jesus, then lied about what he thought it was after facing backlash. Keep in mind that this happened shortly after he attacked the Pope as “weak.” The same individual who, just a few days earlier, skipped church on Easter to go golfing after threatening mass genocide. Anyone who actually thinks this man is a Christian knows absolutely nothing about the teachings of Jesus Christ and damn sure shouldn’t call themselves a Christian.
A “proud patriot who respects our military”: Except, of course, POWs, because “he likes people who weren’t captured.” Or all the veterans he’s attacked, the generals he’s fired and spoken poorly about, the Arlington National Cemetery he disgraced, or the fact that he currently has three children of age to serve in the military, but none of them ever will — or that he’s a draft dodger but has the nerve to “joke” about how he should receive the Medal of Honor. Then there was him wearing a baseball hat to a dignified transfer ceremony. There has never been a president more disrespectful of our military than Donald Trump.
A “defender of the Constitution”: That' completely ridiculous. We’ve never had a more anti-constitutional president than Trump. He has ICE out there arresting people without probable cause and believes the First Amendment only applies to pro-Trump speech and media, and only protects protests against his enemies. This is someone who doesn’t believe in three co-equal branches of government, doesn’t want any system of checks and balances on his power, and believes everyone in government should work for him rather than the American people. Our Constitution was literally written to protect Americans from someone like Trump being elected to that office. It gave us a system of checks and balances to hold a power-hungry tyrant in check and, if needed, remove them from office for being unfit to serve. The only reason he’s still president is that Republicans in Congress refuse to carry out their sworn duties as servants of the American people and the Constitution.
“The world respects the United States again”: Said by people while our allies can’t stand us and our enemies are laughing at us. This country has never been less respected than it is now. Once Trump is no longer president, most of the world will celebrate — I damn sure will — while our enemies will have lost their best weapon for weakening the United States from within.
It’s just incredible, the delusional world MAGA lives in — a cult of tens of millions of people who literally exist in a mental reality that is nothing but pure right-wing fan fiction. A reality that’s crumbling all around them, with one failure after another mounting for their orange messiah.
They actually believe all the bullsh*t I just listed, and no amount of evidence presented to them will change their minds.
And I didn’t even list everything. I could write a book about all the delusions these people have about Trump that reality proves are the exact opposite.
Which is exactly why I’ve argued we need more definitions of insanity — because it takes willful ignorance, or an inability to face reality, to continue supporting Donald Trump and believing everything I just listed when reality tells an entirely different and completely opposite story. - Allen Clifton
