Some NorCal teams with similarities to EPL Clubs...

I could be wrong but I would be shocked If MVLA/Mustang would ever be okay with lamo/SV into ECNL. Maybe ECNL wouldn't care at this point but in the past, that was part of why they weren't ECNL. I will be interested to see what SV is like without Stanislaus kids. That was a major part of them doing well in GA. Lamo is top notch in general and would be fun to see how they do playing other top teams since GA is boring for most of their teams.

If they did join ECNL I'm sure there would be some player movement in and out so hard to say how LAMO teams would end up.
I know some of their age groups have scrimmaged ECNL teams. I haven't heard that they won any of them.
I do think it would be good for them to move if given the oppty though.

Right now, LAMO's strongest age group is U14/2012G (by percentile SR). They are quite up there, 8th in the state overall. But they'd still be expected to lose by ~2 goals to the MVLA team of that age, and ~3 goals by Koge. Who knows what would actually happen if they ever switched conferences in terms of player movement in or out - but this is hypothetically what would happen if they teleported there intact. They can clearly compete at the highest levels - but there are still significant differences even when you get up to that level.

Lamo has many quality players without question. Having to play ECNL(especially top half) week in and week out is the real challenge. Playing with consistency vs the best competition. It's a shame their good teams have play in about 20 percent competitive games only year round. Once US soccer likely takes over all leagues in a few years, hopefully all the best clubs will be together in one division.

Lamo as a club has been very successful on the girls side getting players to the next level. Their 2026 team (07/08) has 16 players committed for college. Big name schools such as Stanford, Auburn, Oregon, North Carolina.

So I’m not sure if they need to join ECNL because they basically dominate the GA NorCal league because of the lower competition. This allows them to attend the champions cup showcase and have teams qualify for nationals each year.

So what’s better as a player or club be the bottom club/team in ECNL or go GA and have all your teams be on the national stage in GA.

Ultimately players just want exposure.

My buddy is a director at SV and was the one who told me about the offer. From what I understand Lamo also brings in guest players especially when traveling for big tournaments. I’m sure SV will figure out a way to get quality guest players if they have to drop all the Stanislaus girls.
I know some Stanislaus families and they said they are planning on playing with SV next year in addition to their ECNL teams. They also mentioned there was the possibility of some SV girls playing on their ECNL teams. Not sure if there's any truth to what they said or how it would work but could be interesting to see. Maybe the guesting either way would be for showcases and not league games.
