New expansion MLS Next HG clubs coming?

Everyone knows the fundamental problem is there are two isolated systems. ECNL and MLS next. Adding new clubs to either system would just dilute the talent pool further and compromise the competitiveness/quality of games. While top teams in each league has not enough good league matches per year without playing with the top teams in the other system, who are local to each other ironically. Also for the second divisions, Some relatively good MLSN ad and ECRL teams are wasting time traveling 4 hours one way to just play against a crappy team with > 10:0 scores. It’s a shame for US youth soccer.
Tournaments allow clubs from different leagues to play each other. The problem is the big leagues are after that business as well. Putting on "showcases" nonstop which are the same thing but without overall winners.

Every coach of the top teams knows who are the good teams locally, so sometimes they would organize ‘friendly games’ among each other. Which is good. But it doesn’t solve systemic issues. Every club/league/ organization is claiming player development as the top priority. But in reality everyone is just chasing the dollars/power

Here's the reality -Your sold on a dream of your son or daughter going pro or college ----big dream for lots of kids'
You even go so far as to paying for private school , hoping that will help your kids make it to a good college.

The past 5 years I have watched maybe 1-5 kids that we know go d1-d3.

You need to ask your directors what they are doing for your son/daughter when you shell out 5-15k a year club and 25k on private school

So Cal soccer is a business. You are their ATM.

Napa United announced they are leaving MLS Next for ECNL. And rumors that SF Seals being kicked out and The Town possibly leaving MLS Next as well....seems like the NorCal league is going through some major changes. And this is on top of Sheriffs and Breakers already leaving...

I wonder if they got kicked out of MLS Next or they chose to leave. They were a mid tier next team at best, I also wonder if they went to ECNL to keep local talent that want to play HS. They have good HS teams up there and my son chose ECNL over Next so he could play HS.

For a club like SF Seals, it may make more sense to go to ECNL. My kid plays HS in a competitive league. The academic kids are aiming for good colleges and are not looking to attend a lower tier school just to say they are recruited athletes. The top players on the team don't seem to be striving to play in college. In the league, I've heard about 1-2 kids being recruited (again, not for schools that necessarily impress in the academic sense). The kids playing MLS next don't seem to have much success either. I can think of 1 really talented kid that might have made it but he ended up screwing up so much academically that he fell off the MLS team. Another kid skipped college and joined a USL team.

SF Seals are moving down. No more Homegrown, only Academy Division.

From the recent Napa announcement, doesn't look like they got moved out of MLS, they made the decision to switch to ECNL.

Right, interestingly the mls next man Luis even commented on the ECNL announcement to confirm it is not a kick out.
With Seals also gone and quakes not playing in HG in some age groups, plus kids not allowed to play school games, will next year’s NorCal mls next hg struggle to provide enough games for kids to develop?

I can't see how it does. NorCal already nuked games by splitting the division in 2. Now with Napa out, Seals out, and what appears to be The Town dropping out, Norcal teams could be looking at 14-16 games. Kids should be getting 30+ games, which they would easily get on the ECNL platform.

It's funny, Napa really shouldn't have been in MLS Next. Even with how weak ECNL is on the boys side in NorCal, I think Napa is going to struggle. They will likely lose players that preferred the MLS Next platform. I do think the whole high school thing is weighing on the MLS Next clubs. Personally I'm not a fan of high school soccer, I think it's an absolutely terrible level where players learn bad habits and are more prone to injury. At the same time, I totally get why kids want to participate. It's a bummer because I think that's a small piece that's getting in the way of developing good players the US. MLS Next should just allow players to play in high school but allow others to continue training that would prefer to skip it. Obviously there'd be no games during that period. Maybe, in addition MLS Next works with CIF to get more aligned. Didn't GA originally not allow high school soccer? That doesn't appear to be the case anymore.

Anyway, I digress....Didn't MLS Next add some clubs? Roseville? Isn't Almaden and Burlingame being considered or something? I haven't paid close attention
