Some could use the same argument for the Afghanistan withdrawal.
I understand that Trump had a rare opportunity to take out Iran leadership, but not without having some plan for the Strait of Hormuz. Ships are having to now pay a toll in a Strait, if they're even allowed passage. Prior to our attack ships had free passage.
This is radical Islam, the snake will always grow back its head. While we're terrible at regime change, it doesn't appear there was any US plan to encourage or support a resistance.
Justifying that it was necessary for this attack to eliminate Iran's nuclear threat is a red herring. Trump and his administration bragged that Iran's nuclear capability had been "obliterated" in the June 2025 bombing. Yes, Iran still has enriched uranium, but there doesn't seem to be a plan or any hope that they will give that up.
Time will tell, but Afghanistan was fubar'd and this current action has not been well planned. Too much shoot first, ask questions later.
