USYS and Club Soccer Integration Chat

ECNL-RL, NPL and USYS-NL integration? Sounds like the board types are iterating on flight 2/3 national leagues? It only makes sense because it's a complete waste of money for these families and kids to be playing in national leagues at that level, they should all just continue to play local and have a pot luck after a game on the weekend, but they need to make sure the bulge in the middle is paying for the system.

Where the rubber hits the road is mls/ecnl integration on the boys side and ecnl/ga on the girls side. It won’t happen. Too much money at stake. Same on the bottom with ayso but they won’t do it because they’ll hold onto their philosophy until it dies.

Seems the positioning continues. MLS aligns with EA to create their 4 tiers (MLSN, MLSN2, EA, EA2) and now US Club (heavily influenced by ECNL) aligns tiers (ECNL, ECRL, NPL, NAL). It's like an arms race to see who can create the biggest closed system in hopes of wooing US Soccer's favor. We're moving towards a 2 pyramid system in the US so should be interesting to see how this plays out. Although, I thought EA was sanctioned by USYS, but maybe not...

ECNL should have just welcomed all the teams that were DA and GA would never had existed. But they had to be jerks.

1000% agree on this.

ECNL had it all and created their own enemy because of pettiness. At least on the girls side. Boys is different with MLS involved.
The point of all the complexity seems to be to confuse parents enough that they don't realize they are being scammed. The announcement of a "non-binding letter of intent to explore a managed services relationship" has to be the MOST meaningless press release ever put out by someone claiming to be an intelligent form of life. The top comment on the usyouthsoccer IG page sums it up perfectly:

Still no details on what any of that means
What are the plans 🤷🏽‍♂️
Work together for what purpose and goals?
What are you two trying to establish
How will your partnership help clubs vs associations
What does this mean for the parents who pay to play?
What does this mean for the kids who play under both structures?
What are you actually aligning on?

Answer to all of the above: y'all seemed like you were starting to understand the grift, so we are throwing another layer of nonsense on top of the last one.

"U.S. Soccer is taking over core back-end operations for US Club Soccer specifically HR, IT, and finance. This was done to streamline operations and support a more unified soccer ecosystem.

The agreement is intended to better align US Club Soccer with broader U.S. Soccer systems and expertise, and to reduce overhead and fragmentation in youth soccer."

If US Soccer controls US Club HR IT and Finance its a safe bet that the initiatives and people US Soccer wants to happen at US Club will happen.

From a purely top down perspective this is what's already supposed to be happening independent of what US Club HR IT and Finanace does.

If so ecnl is doomed to failure. Whoever controls the academies wins.

I don't know about that. ECNL has proven to be very resistant. Think it will heavily pressured on the boys side where MLSNext is king but ENCL is much more dominant on the girls side and I don't see that changing anytime soon. A lot will have to happen if to knock them off their perch. Only way I see it happening on the Girls side is if the NWSL aligns with GA, but even then Colleges are heavily invested in ECNL for girls talent.

Doomed to failure or primed for a take-over to streamline the pyramid? MLS Academies are the top of the food chain for sure on the boys side, but on the girls side ECNL i
There are 4x as many boys as there are girls and likely US Soccer will want one unified structure. Think with the weight of MLS the girls side will be an after thought. Especially if NWSL aligns with GA. Being as ECNL will kick out clubs that don't have their top tier boys teams in ECNL and not MLS Next, I think the clubs with MLS will be happy to move their girls over. Once again pettiness rules the day.

4x as many boys as girls? 😂 In SoCal, there are roughly around the same number of girls teams as boys teams. NWSL will not align with GA or ECNL...there is no incentive to do so.

On the boys side, MLS next is watering down its talent by having all these MLS next 2 teams. If MLS next 2 teams get to go to MLS next fest, what’s the incentive for people to join non academy MLS next teams?
