MLS Next 2 schedules announced

Both of my kids have played MLS Next HG and now one is in RL and one is in next AD. The big takeaway is that most teams stink because talent is so diffused. My kids teams both have 3-4 kids who are good and plat the spine (CB, 6, 8, 10) and all the kids on the wings are wanting.

But MLS Next HG is the only one that matters. ECNL a little, but the others are meaningless.
Well, actually MLS Next HG teams that are with a real Academy are the only ones that matter. All the other HG teams are just fodder to be beaten by the actual Academy teams anyway. And not all of the Academy teams are actually that good when you think about it, it's really only 3 or 4 teams that are decent, and the rest aren't supposed to challenge for a championship any time soon. Come to think of it, even those top teams are generally pretty sad, and can't send more then a handful of players to have any meaningful future in soccer anyway. Seems they all should just give it up and play horseshoes anyway.

Thats a lot of detail. What I was able to pull out of it is...

1. The Ranking App will group BY with SY teams together.

2. Expectation is that BY teams will be grouped with the 6 month above SY group. But not 100% on this.

Personally I think it would be in boys ECNLs favor for the ranking app to group BY and SY separately. This way it would be MLSN2 and ECNL + everyone else in the SY grouping. The only ones in the BY grouping would MLSN1.
You've made your feelings clear from the beginning. It seems it's not going to happen, no matter how much you wish it would. If half the teams went one way and half went the other, even then it would be a reasonable debate to figure out how to best represent comparing them together or separately. That's not what happened.

While I do think BY and SY should be seperate in the ranking app it's because the precedent has been set that different groupings are seperate in the app view. Mixing BY and SY just because theres more or less than the other is an additional variable that wasnt included initially.

What I wrote is something different. In theory if MLSN1/HG is MLSs top level and seperated out in its own BY grouping. ECNLs top level should show up near the top of the SY grouping. Although its just perception and how the data is being presented its what many parents are looking for.

It's not going to be separated out. Just like it makes no sense to separate BY and SY at scale when comparing team ratings, it makes even less sense to separate just MLSN1 teams as it's the only one in BY anyway. The overarching point (and the pragmatic one) can always be that MLSN1 and the ratings of its teams > every other league, way, way more than RAE > (RAE - 5 months). If MLS1 gets put with the older group, they are still going to make up virtually all of the top rankings. If MLS1 were pushed in to the younger group, they would still make up virtually all of the top rankings, even more so than today.

ECNL and its teams are never going to be able to show greater (in SR) than MLS1 in any circumstance, until ECNL teams start performing better than MLS1 teams - and it doesn't look like that's happening any time soon. They can't expect to be able to call themselves fake #1 because an app chooses to not compare them to other teams in that age bracket that outperform them. It's like a GA team saying that they are national #1 (except for the ECNL teams).
