Daughter going back for captains practice. Good luck to all the other college players heading back. First and foremost, no injuries. For most of us at this level we only have a couple years left watching our kids. Enjoy the time. Mine is out of state now, so planning lots of road trips.

Good luck to all the players! Mine is back for her last year as a grad transfer, after suffering a season ending injury in early 2024. At least she is closer to home this time and one last hoorah before she hangs up her cleats for good. It's been one hell of a rollercoaster ride over the last 4 years. Lots we would do differently, and some of it was just unlucky

Captains' practice -- so called because the coach doesn't know about it. My second son was invited to spend the week plus change before his Freshman year in college working out with the veterans of the previous year. Of course, he accepted, and it was timed perfectly to be right after the completion of his summer outdoor league schedule. He slept on a sofa in the Captain's apartment until the dorms opened --and this is the critical part -- didn't help with the rent. The school's compliance officer found out and made him make amends, complete with marks on his Permanent Record.
That’s a bummer. Lots of inspiring FROSH looking to make a strong first impression sleeping on futons these next few weeks. Coaches set them up with the upper class men and it’s kept among bro’s. Compliance officers? They should be nowhere near this. Loose lips sink ships.
The coach isn't supposed to be involved, but someone provides the captains with the contact information, and I wouldn't be surprised if the captains reported back with their impressions of the new recruits.
