I agree with your summation of the difficult situation but wonder why you claim the UN itself to have blood on its hands because of actions of a few that were presumably associated with them? The UN is refusing to distribute aid from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (which is back by the US and Israel) for purely political reasons which is significantly slowing aid to Gazans. The UN is claiming that Israel/US are using GHF to ration aid, because they don't like the stricter security protocols implemented by GHF to prevent looting and from the aid being hoarded by Hamas.
Remember that the UN's hands are hardly clean in this conflict as a number of their employees participated in the Oct 7 attacks.
Also remember that in the history of armed conflict there has never been the expectations placed upon a country, like there has been on Israel to feed the civilians of the combatants (some of which are combatants themselves). I believe that its necessary for humanitarian purposes and in the best interest of Israel to not let Gazan civilians starve; however, Israel is trying to defeat Hamas at the same time and its difficult, to separate Hamas from Gazan civilians, particularly when Hamas uses Gazans as human shields. I'm not saying Israel is perfect, they've made a number of mistakes, but they have a difficult needle to thread to defeat the most vile of living beings that have ever walked this earth while minimizing civilian casualties.
What a joke you are Curly. Seriously, you give more love to the UN then MAGA. Total Marxist!!!I agree with your summation of the difficult situation but wonder why you claim the UN itself to have blood on its hands because of actions of a few that were presumably associated with them?
I have no sympathy for Hamas or what happens to them. The UN is refusing to distribute aid from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (which is back by the US and Israel) for purely political reasons which is significantly slowing aid to Gazans. Well it is a euphemism, but were not talking about just a couple randos. Allegedly 19 employees were involved. That's something in the organizational culture that tolerates or possibly fosters anti-Semitic tendencies. (There are many claims that the UN has had an anti-Israel bias) I doubt these were closest Jew haters, and people don't spontaneously decide to kill Jews. Let's put it in a different context, if 19 Trump Organization employees went out and brutally murder a bunch of black people you would be all over the Trump Organization and rightly so.I agree with your summation of the difficult situation but wonder why you claim the UN itself to have blood on its hands because of actions of a few that were presumably associated with them?
Infiltrators? Not a lot of job opportunities in that region. And you don’t want to open the trump affiliated crimes can of worms.Well it is a euphemism, but were not talking about just a couple randos. Allegedly 19 employees were involved. Fair points, but the current situation only exists because Hamas, with the assistance of some Gazan civilians, committed unprecedented atrocities and took and tortured hostages. This current conflict would end if Hamas returned the hostages, some being held by civilians...and some apparently passed on to other radical Islam groups.I have no sympathy for Hamas or what happens to them.
The reason why there is an expectation that Israel facilitate the feeding of the Palestinians is because it's an occupied territory, remember that. Occupied by Israel. With that comes certain responsibilities, which have been pointed out to Israel for years, decades even, and which Israel has only kinda lived up to. Gaza did not have an airport or port; everything had to be trucked in - 600 per day. There was some agriculture in Gaza, but 80% of the land is now destroyed for agricultural purposes, not that they could do anything now anyway. Israel has purposely blocked all food delivery for 80+ days, along with water, medicine, fuel etc.
Keep in mind that Israel has dealt with Hamas since 2006 as the "rulers" of Gaza. Israel approved of and facilitated the money from Qatar to Hamas (apparently $1.8B).
Interesting that the head of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation resigned just a few days ago. In his resignation statement, Wood cited the foundation's inability to adhere to core humanitarian principles—specifically "humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence"—as the primary reason for his departure. He emphasized that he would not abandon these principles, which are fundamental to effective and ethical humanitarian work.
Israel isn't going to defeat Hamas like this. Every Hamas fighter killed has been replaced. I do not doubt that tens of thousands have been radicalized by what has happened. Israel went from the world on its side to losing the PR war worldwide, with avid Israeli hawks now slamming it publicly and daily. It doesn't help that 2 members of the Israeli cabinet couldn't give a toss about the hostages, but would be fine with genocide or ethnic cleansing, and nothing else - and who have said that the government will fall if the war stops. Obviously, the legal jeopardy of Netanyahu if that happens and the inquiry into how Oct 7th could have happened given the level of security in Israel, makes many publicly question whether Bibi will stop or even wants to.
Tough situation, especially considering Netanyahu’s past entanglements with Hamas. As Joe Strummer once said, “ghettology is an urban Vietnam”.Fair points, but the current situation only exists because Hamas, with the assistance of some Gazan civilians, committed unprecedented atrocities and took and tortured hostages. In most wars, other countries would provide aid and safety for innocents by accepting refugees from the war, unfortunately Arab neighbors refuse because they fear the Palestinians' radical nature. You attempt to put a wall between Hamas and Palestinians when the reality is that its barely a line in the sand. As is evidenced by actions and "protests" both Hamas and many Palestinians share a strong anti-Semitism. 90% of Palestinians believe that Hamas committed no atrocities on Oct 7. Many Middle East experts believe that if Hamas ran against the PA/Fatah in the West Bank that Hamas would win that election in a landslide. Remember, Hamas's mission statement is the elimination of the Jewish state.
I agree that Israel doesn't help itself with the international community by withholding aid, or appearing to withhold aid.
What in the actual fuck are you talking about?Tough situation, especially considering Netanyahu’s past entanglements with Hamas. As Joe Strummer once said, “ghettology is an urban Vietnam”.
So the talking points are now to continually conflate Hamas and civilians, hence providing even more "justification" for the ongoing carnage, and thousands of innocents being slaughtered. I see you continue to ignore the comments of the extremists in government in Israel who do not want this war to end and who have said that they will collapse the government if releasing the hostages ends it, i.e. that is not their goal.Fair points, but the current situation only exists because Hamas, with the assistance of some Gazan civilians, committed unprecedented atrocities and took and tortured hostages. This current conflict would end if Hamas returned the hostages, some being held by civilians...and some apparently passed on to other radical Islam groups.
