Context please.I've never seen a team forefeit a final before? Has anyone else ever seen this? Who knows? All ECNL Teams worry about injuries, but don't you want your subs to get play time? Or is your team so concerned about winning, your coach can only focus on the result that could be a loss at a tournament that does not matter for nationals? I just don't understand this.
My kid and a lot of her friends have played against the very best at this age, so I know a lot about the players here. I don't trust coaches that only show up for award ceremonies when their kids win. They are 13 bubba! You can't win every game! Not the Blues not the Surf not Koge NOT ANYONE! HAVE SOME HUMILITY. HAVE SOME PROFESSIONALISM. THESE ARE KIDS. THESE ARE YOUNG ATHLETES LOOKING UP TO THEIR COACHES WHO ARE NOT ACTING PROFESSIONALLY! Play your subs. Develop your kids. I want to win more than anyone, but sometimes developing at friendlies and tournaments builds teams that win at nattys!
Kudos to the coaches, parents, and athletes that show up to the hardest of losses at tournaments. Coaches above all others should be leaders. Leaders lead with humilty and competence not with immature avoidance of celebrating a winner. Hard to believe some pay for coaches that act like this. I've always celebrated my daughter's losses, because it's EASY TO WIN AND TAKE THAT TROPHY. It's hard to be humble! Learning you can't always win is a very important part of appreciating competitive sports!
Not going to get into details. Some may know. Some may not. I've just been blessed with quality coaches with good character. I'll leave it at that! Interesting though that some coaches expect their players to have respect and character as they do not lead by example! Just curious if forfeiting at tournaments is a thing? I've honestly never seen it.Context please.
This is an interesting age group that started slow and I feel finished strong. It seems the same high quality clubs have attracted some really good players and once again seem to be the top teams, not only in So. Cal, but nationally. Being familiar with the National Champion SurfHere's a reference point to start the season.

It will be either Surf or Blues. There are some REAL talent on both teams. This is an interesting age group that started slow and I feel finished strong. Being familiar with the National Champion Surfcool: ), they picked up one of the best midfielders from Blues to add to an already rich midfield, so I have to go with the Surf team to repeat the ECNL title of National Champion. I know, really stupid to do that, but, my name IS Surferdad........
They score less goals than their opponent in playoffs?Blues taking the title this year? Heard they added a very nice piece to their defense. I don’t see how they loose now.
They could win the playoffs without scoring a single goal or having a goal scored against themThey score less goals than their opponent in playoffs?
The wild card when preparing for playoffs, is not what is happening to one’s own team, but all the unknowns going on elsewhere. I am aware that to some degree, all the top teams are trying to strengthen their rosters entering playoffs. However, and you can see it at the generally at the national id camps, the west coast still rules girls soccer so my prediction is of the 8 teams that make it to the final 8 in Richmond, 4 will be from the west coast and 3 will be from So. Cal. Of course I may be way off. That’s why they play the games. Talk is cheap! They could win the playoffs without scoring a single goal or having a goal scored against them![]()
