Looking at it - all three clubs are currently equal at the ECNL age groups. Which means between all 3 clubs, DMCV has improved the most because DMCV was at #3 position in all age groups before MW.

Between DMCV and Rebels - 4 out of 6 teams, DMCV is higher ranked. DMCV and Rebels play the same competition teams.

Between DMCV and City - City is ranked 4 out of 6 teams higher than Sharks. but ....if you look at the competition City has been playing, it's an inflated number because their competition is easier, kinda like comparing TOP Hat to Solar.

If you want to go to the 2nd best ECNL team in San Diego today, it's DMCV.

If you just go by YSR without comparing league and competition, then City is the 2nd best option in San Diego but DMCV is still the 2nd best ECNL option in San Diego.

I still think your interpretation of the numbers is generous to DMCV. They are leading in 2007G, where everyone being compared is weak, and they are leading in 2009G, where everyone listed is also weak. Every other year they get beaten whether ECNL numbers alone or rating/ranking numbers. Over time - these numbers will continue to improve, they will plateau, or they will deteriorate - and we'll all have more information about whether they were on the upswing or not.

probably. Only time will tell. I'm hoping for the best to give our girls better options in San Diego. Good club competition will create better products and services for the girls.

UCLA and USC are the top women college soccer programs in SoCal on paper and tradition, and also around the country. Surf is top in SD for youth soccer. Look what coach Scott has done at UCI. It took him some time and a little luck, they are now #1 In Socal. Plus, the travel in the Pac 12 is going to be cruel at best and not for alltypes of players. UCI has a great location and with the current success last three years, they will get better. Give MW some time everyone and I bet some of his teams will pull off the upset against Surf & City Carlsbad Club.

Deza is a clown and won’t be long before he looses players and when that happens MW will be expecting them which is all he is wanting to do anyway there is a reason players are leaving but again all sharks is hoping for is to attract all the second team players that don’t make the cut at surf or any other club for that matter and as far as city SC they shouldn’t even be in the convo they are so far behind the comp level it isn’t even funny so to even compare them or put them in the same category is delusional. At the end of the day it’s all recruiting and poaching players as well as favoritism in every aspect I say this again anyone at sharks or thinking of going to sharks stay clear and run the other way but then again there isn’t a club and I mean none that are legitimately interested in the development of players they are all in for the right now and looking to find the next semi talented player and the new flavor of the month so they can get the immediate boost of talk and drama of what club they stole her from
If I were all you parents on these clubs I would ask for an audit of players and there fees and you will see where exactly you fit in as most of these players are all given free fees all the attention
And if you are a second team player then you are due a great big thank you as you are the ones funding these top teams and there players as everyone know the second, third and maybe fourth teams are the bank roll for the top teams.
and if you don’t believe that then I have some beach front property in Arizona I would like to sell you
 
This is an interesting interview with Carli about US Soccer. It all starts with the youth and the PAY-FOR-PLAY system that the rich and mighty have their claws on. I saw how all this is played in 2017. I came on here in 2018 to ask some questions and got attacked by rich daddy, threaten and blacklisted. Daddy gets on the board or buys the board and then gets his kiddos the prize. The whole system is a big mess and for that, we will lose until we overhaul the way girls are picked. You can see who US Soccer favors with the call ups for the two friendlies. Big sponsors put a lot of money in these players, and they want to sell jerseys. They also monitor them 24/7. You comply or else. Docs are making well over $200K a year + Kickbacks. Not all, some good ones are out there.

Deza is a clown? He just won three National ECNL titles with Surf 2006, 09, and 11 teams.
Deza is untouchable. Josh H needs a raise.

Seems like Sharks should have taken the deal with Surf a couple years back. This doesn't solve any of their issues... maybe it allows them to shore up a few of their rosters.

Being next to Surf and being called Surf would never work if both clubs all played in same leagues and levels.

I don't understand the why.

Do Sharks feel that the name and legacy aren't worth carrying forward?

Do Sharks feel that the Legends name is somehow a step up from Sharks?

There's going to be a huge cost in switching the name. Do Sharks feel like this will be covered by associating with the Legends name?

If they had merged with Surf, they effectively would have been a second Surf NL/RL Program and Surf would have gotten Sharks' cash and rec programs.

Short term it shores up Sharks rosters, if the best players from the existing L SD E64 teams come over. Or that's the thought, I guess.

Sharks name is more or less dead. Even their IG handle has changed to Legends.

Does this make sense? Probably not. But the Sharks board in their wisdom pushed it through. No parent vote this time.

It's the same ole shit. The bottom line goal is to find a way to retain and attract better players to win more games, which in turn helps them retain and attract better players. It never seems to work with these affiliate things, but clubs keep beating that horse.

Legends SD top teams (NPL last season, E64 this season) are not very good. The majority of the ballers in East County/East San Diego (where Legends SD is located) already move to other clubs. Sharks will not be picking up any significant strength in the roster from the existing Legends SD teams. Also proximity isn't close 15-20 miles between the two.

Last season the Legends Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) branch had the Legends E64 teams. This season SCV took on the new RL SoCal leagues, and gave up E64. Legends SD picked up the E64 league, but their teams are not performing anywhere near the SCV teams. With E64 losing South Valley SURFS top teams, and SCV's teams, I expect the quality of the league to drop quickly. Certainly these clubs would be better off playing NPL instead of traveling all over SoCal to play teams that are the same level as NPL.

Sharks becoming Legends is a pure business decision. Who is benefiting from the deal? In a merger, it won't be both. I don't think Legends needs the Sharks, so the writting is on the wall. Most likely it is Legends pushing back on SURFS incursion into the IE. Not much will change the first year, but you can bet there will be changes next year.

The reason I asked if former Sharks leadership would be staying in place is because as long as they control Sharks/LegendsSD nothing changes no matter what you call the club.

This is basically Legends 2nd ECNL team which they have been talking about trying to get for awhile. The strongest roster will play in Norco, 2nd team will play in SD (like HB & Slammers).
