Newsom is the first major Democrat in decades to have any understanding of the economics of housing. 99% of them want to take your tax dollars. Newsom is forcing your city to issue building permits.

Yell at him for everything else if you like, but his housing policy is neoclassical, not Marxist.
 
His housing policy is bullshit just like everything else he does. Who is going to pay for all of that? What happens when these bums and junkies refuse to clean up after themselves? All he's done is throw our tax dollars at the problem and grow it. Or did you think bums and junkies were coming here for the sunny skies?

I will continue to yell at that human piece of shit. All he's done is burn our money to grow the problem. Turns out, Dad, that making sure junkies have clean needles doesn't stop them from shitting on the sidewalk and driving business and taxpayers from our state.

Newsom’s main housing program is not to spend tax money. It is to force cities to change their zoning laws. The zoning change is cheap, and normally paid for by developer fees. The real money is the construction cost, provided by private developers, and ultimately paid for by the people who live in the new homes.

I’m sure you’ll explode when you realize your city no longer makes it illegal to build apartment buildings. But that’s what is happening. Newsom is forcing government to get out of the way and allow private enterprise to solve a problem.

Actually I can tell you from having done affordable housing development in the past, the state's and city policies are exactly the reason we don't have more affordable housing in California. There is a laundry list of fees and over-the-top requirements that developers have to deal with like school fees (even if it is a senior development), transportation, environmental and other impact fees, ridiculous stormwater and fire requirements...just to name a few. The state does provide low interest funds for affordable housing but it requires the payment of prevailing wages which adds between 10%-20% increase in development costs which far outweighs any debt cost savings. The only one that takes a haircut is the developer while the government gets all its fees.

Oh, that's right, you want to force local hotels to take these animals in, clean up after them and then be unable to kick them out when they get used to that 3 and 4 star hotel. Who pays for that? Then you want people that pay a premium, to live in a nice community, to watch the value of their homes decline because a bunch of halfway houses need to be built. Now you want developers to pay more to support Gavin's failure to address the problem. Is that because he's abused the Californian taxpayer enough already? You just need money to fall from a different tree because Gavin wants to run for president and people learned he's been printing money like Joe has? What happened to the surplus? What has Gavin done to fix the butt pounding he got with unemployment, because he was too busy crying about Californians moving to Florida, and recover that money?

Private citizens don't want meth users to move in next door. But life isn't fair, right? Those with Sizzler budgets should be allowed to eat at Mastro's like all meanie rich people that never pay taxes, right? Life isn't fair so you want to make it fair? Fair for whom? Those that did it the right way or those that didn't? You're full of shit, too. Newsom is PRECISELY using government to move private citizens out of the way like he always has. But that's Gavin's style, isn't it? Force kids to get the jab before they go back to school... even though his kids are private and don't have to. That's right, his kids aren't vaccinated. Force citizens to step over homeless people even though he moved his family, after 1 night, so they don't have to. Force wineries to close even though his didn't. Force people to stay out of restaurants even though he gets The French Laundry. Force people to wear masks even though he doesn't have to in the luxury box.
