Surf over Hotspurs by a few goals.

Albion over Strikers North in a closer than expected one.

Anaheim Surf over Strikers OC late in the game.

Beach FC - SB past Beach FC - LB in PKs

CDA Slammers over Blues in an all out war, high scoring game.

Real So Cal comfortably over SDSC.

Galaxy squeaks one out over a resilient So Cal Academy

Legends runs it up on Galaxy SD.

I think Galaxy is going to deeper than some think. They are coming together at the right time, have added back some talent, and have been putting up a series of strong performances.

I'll go with the homer pick and say the same for Blues. My DDs last run with Blues this weekend or next, so hoping the girls can pull off two strong performances in order to get one more week together. On the bright side, I will be home in time for the superbowl either way!

CDA Slammers over Blues. It should be a barn burner! I heard that the CDA Slammers team has had 1 sub and 1 2007 on the roster the entire season. I got them picked to get past Blues in a close one.

The manager did try and talk to somebody as the Cal south table was right there. As the game kept going my attention was mostly on the game. By halftime the refs were held back from coming back on the field as the field marshal, team manager and a representative from the tourney were all talking but I believe it came down to the fact that the field marshal didn't stop the game in time and that they couldn't go backwards and undo it at that point. So simply, SVSC didn't take the right action in time or the Field Marshall didn't.
A learning lesson for all involved I guess. Some of us knew about the red card possibility if they saved the goal with their hands but we were mostly uncertain with the header. We ALL felt that a warning or coaching opportunity was there for the ref instead of a red card though.

State Cup protests are different than normal tournaments. The protest must be in writing, there is a fee and a State Cup committee makes the decision. There is no need to hurry up and try to get it done before the game ends. Hopefully someone on your sideline was recording video of the game. Video makes great evidence. There should always be a someone on every teams sideline recording the every game.

I've been reading all these conversations about the blues teams and there coaches. I think you have it all wrong I've known Holley for all time she's not on the phone texting. She's checking remaining time in the game. She's a good coach. You guys need to focus on something else besides the Blues coaches. A lot of these conversations are coming from the parents of the players that didn't make the new top team at the blues.

Spoken like a true blues person!! Hahaha several girls left not because of not making a team but wanting some development and coaching from a club that actually supports development and coaching. Regardless of the sideline texting, lack of commitment or being on time for a game, it's a complete joke there

Checked the sportsbooks in vegas and here are the official lines...

SD Surf (-3.5) One of the favorites to not only win this one, but the whole thing
Albion (-1.5) Strikers North has had some great showings this year, but Albion attack is too tough
Anaheim (-2) Strikers OC is good, but not enough to get by Anaheim this time
Beach LB (-1.5) Sister team battle goes to the LBC
Blues (pick 'em) Love the Blues, but CDA is going to hit them with everything (and the CDA coach is going to scream the entire game)
SDSC/RSC (off the board) The oddsmaker has no idea as he hasn't seen either play
LAGSB (-1.5) LAGSB seem to be rolling based upon pool play
Legends (-2) Only reason this isn't more is because the LAGSD goalie is so good...only let one goal in against SD Surf this weekend
Since its Super bowl weekend my 2 cents. On the spreads provided.
SD Surf -3.5
Strikers N +1.5
Strikers OC +2
Beach SB +1.5
Blues pickem
RCS
LAGSB -1.5
Homer ( no Pete Rose)

Best of Luck to all the little ladies this weekend. As 3SoccerLadies would say keep it CLASSY !!

Lots of angst at Blues at the 06 level this year. The calendar age change didn't go well for this group, continuing to have two top teams proved difficult and the teams never seemed to quite come together completely. Also a lot of hurt feelings as the decision was made to combine the top two teams into one next year. I will say that I didn't agree with all the choices that were made for next years combined team (a couple of non-offers were head-scratchers for sure). That being said, I am only aware of one player who was offered a spot on next years combined team and turned it down to go elsewhere. Certainly others could have ultimately made the decision to go elsewhere even if they were offered a spot, but everyone was out there at tryouts trying to make next year's team. I think bashing the club or these coaches as not interested in development is incorrect. As with any coach/player (or sometimes parent) relationship, sometimes it just isn't the right fit and the player would do better elsewhere. My daughter has made some great friends at Blues and has developed as a player at the same time. Could she have developed more at another club? Maybe, but she has a lot of fun and I'm pretty certain she will always look back on the experience fondly, and that is what is most important to us.

Good points. Development can't be placed entirely on the coach. The girl has to work and want it also. There's a lot of girls that don't want it as much as the parents and hence the gap in expectation vs. result. Not saying any of that happened, but always good to see both sides.

Meanwhile, let's stay on topic as this topic doesn't want to seem to die. LOL!!!

Was going to start a new thread in G06 because I actually have quite a bit to say about this topic and your right it doesn't belong in this thread.

But after writing most of it I came to the realization that my comments don't just apply to G06 so I need to put it in SoCalScene... Yikes don't really want to do that wish me luck!

They need to start a thread called "Blues 06 situation: a case study for all of soccer"...LOL! Just kidding that would be not good. Just wondering as side note, they took 6 from Holley and 2 from rennie but rennie seemed to be doing better of late -- if you look at Vegas and state? Just crossed my mind and curious. Please don't answer if a war is going to start as a result of the answer.

Ok, strike that question. I am curious, but not enough to re-open the subject.

Just to vent a bit (my daughter is still in so not being a sore loser) but why is governors being played at polo and Oside when presidents is at Ryan Park?! Those fields are atrocious can't play real soccer

1-0 Legends v La Galaxy Sd.

Great game. Galaxy gave legends everything they could handle. Centerback from Legends was a stud. Legends is kick ball city. Incredible save by Legends keeper to keep game from ot. Galaxy let up only 2 goals from Surf and Legends in last 2 games. Incredible defense. Legends vs Surf finals I think. Legends sideline out of control. Parent thrown out??

Saw some competitive futbol this evening at Ryan Park! The fields left a ton to be desired but all teams had the same crapola conditions. The scores absolutely showed the competitiveness and parity at the age group.

Some general observations:

- Unlike last year, most of the top teams aren't out after the first knockout round!
- Saw much less kickball than I expected. Teams are really working to play some type of possession play. Even on these fields it was nice to see the little ladies try to work the ball around!
- Saw some tough play but nothing dangerous. Again, teams with the character of playing aggressive seem to have actually learned the right ways to use their bodies

Some amazing surprises! Great so see Strikers North and Albion battle it out. That group of girls is putting it together!

Another early exit at the age group for Blues. Check the other thread, looks like they are retooling for next year.

SDSC!!! Holy cow! They are hitting at the right time!!!

Beach vs Beach was interesting! Beach SB hasn't had a single game with the full team. Both teams fought it out!

I wish I could have watched that Legends game! I saw the goalie out at midfield in the last minutes for LAG SD and knew it was close!

LAGSB vs SoCal Academy was closer than the score line! Fast game with lots of shots and tough play!!!

Surf and Hotspurs was another fun one to watch. Surf was equalized by the bouncineness of the surface!

Tomorrow's games may lead to most of the strong teams winning out. Maybe a Cinderella will emerge and knock a big off! But, the LAGSB vs Anaheim Surf game should be the game of the day!

Anahiem should win this one. LAGSB is a tough team, but Anaheim seems to show up when it matters against tough competition.
