SoCal Champions League

SILVER ELITE
Posted about this a few weeks ago, hoping now that its been a couple weeks since the NPL Playoffs someone might have heard about what this league is??
Is this a new league that is part of SoCal NPL Discovery Division?

This is what it says on the SoCal Website
#1 seed and #2 seed in league will play for the championship and the "Winner is NPL Champion and qualifies for SOCAL Champions League"

Is SoCal League trying to replicate what the NorCal does with their NPL Divisions and create a Champions League of NPL players???
NorCal does a great job of promotion/relegation in NPL....the last place team in boys ECNL is replaced with Champion of the NPL league...what great incentive for clubs that cant ever get into ECNL...I think that is what needs to happen in SoCal for so many reasons!!!

please clarify for me .

In NorCal a last place ECNL team is replaced by the Champion of the NPL League. In other words it’s team based not Club based ? I thought ECNL was club based only with no exceptions !
I guess I’m wrong ???

I think norcal links NPL to ECRL, not ECNL.

We used to have an excellent state wide pro-rel system. Now most of the ECNL clubs are skipping it, so they can claim they’re better than everyone else.

I wish we could drop the elitist nonsense and just let the top teams play each other.

They were referring to the boys side. And yes, NPL has become a qualification league for ECNL on the boys side.
On the girls side, NPL gets you into ECRL

where did these handouts come from ?
Is this a done deal or a proposal or a fantasy dream ?
If real, it would be very interesting but I have my doubts.
On the other hand SOCAL did post on their website that NPL champions qualified for the
SOCAL Champions league. Usually you don’t print something until its a done deal not a proposal. So maybe it’s real . Can anyone educate us ?

Im sure the ECNL teams will mop up the competition (girls side) for this event. But why would they want to take the risk of losing to a DPL, NPL or SoCal league team?

Im the kind of person that would want to play anyone, anywhere, anytime. But ECNL was built on exclusivity. (The clubs in ECNL have proven over the years that they are the "best"- I really don't doubt that. But it doesn't mean that on "any given Sunday" that a "lower" team can't knock them off)

on the boys side they listed MLS Next teams also

There is a solid argument that the best norcal 09 and 04 teams are not ECNL at all.

FCBA 04 have a reasonable claim to be the top 04s. And the Pumas 09 team just won Dallas Invitational. Those aren’t low teams that got lucky.

I would take this announcement with a grain of salt unless ECNL, GA & DPL make their own announcements, which hasn't happened yet. I don't know anything about MLS Next, so I don't know if they've made an announcement. Considering the venues are still stated as "potential venues" I'm guessing this is barely an aspiration at this point. Kind of like Elite 64 saying that "the 64 best teams in the country" would be joining when that clearly was not going to happen.

The winner of the girls ECNL can - for most age groups - claim to be the true champion at this point and there's diminishing arguments against it, so they don't really need this or anything like this supposed champions league. But yes, it would be great to have a level playing field without exclusive leagues, and a true champion. In college football, the influence of money prevented a true national champion for over a hundred years before that regime finally went down, so we know it can be done.

It would fix the "my league is better then your league" if they had a true Champions League Tournament, like FA Cup.
