Release question???

Is it legal for a cal south member youth club team to kick you off the team for not participating in illegal full contact training sessions during covid?

Because this is exactly what happened to my kid

still in disbelief. Some people will want to win at all stakes.

No idea of the ramifications, but I would say you are lucky your child is no longer playing for someone seriously lacking in character.

Not like you want to be part of the team still. It’s a bummer for your kid (not sure the age) but tell him the coach is an asshole and the club is unethical. And that you dont want him to part of a team of rule breakers and cheaters.
I hope you get all of your money back and the coach gets fired soon.

I hope get our money back. I think we will...Never thought our coach and club would act in suck dishonest and unethical manner, just goes to show that you can’t always trust those in charge. I would say the name of the but the ramifications on innocent children losing out goes against my morals. I just hope the rest of the parents open their eyes and see what’s going on. But you gentlemen are correct we are definitely better off, this is blessing in disguise. Makes me wonder what else this club is doing behind the scenes. And I’m sure I’m not the only parent going thru this.

I think remember seeing something in the cal south guidelines that a player can't be penalized if they are concerned about covid. I will see if I can find it

for not participating in illegal full contact training sessions during covid?
This is probably the one part of the story that I would say is subjective. Not right or wrong, just subjective. What you called illegal and what the club/coach/cal south considers illegal are probably not the same thing.

I couldn't attach the file, but go to CalSouth.com and click on return to play guidelines. Under compliance download Phases and responsibilities pdf. Under phase one, number three it talks about players not being penalized

Yup I remember reading that also bit the club should implement the same standards that cal south has. I hope its in writing where he details why they are being let go, that way theres proof. Don’t wanna name drop at least let us know the age group.

Coach and club are assholes. Just be glad you find out this way. It’s better than a long term injury because the coach wouldn’t let him rest when he’s hurt.

What’s the rest of the back story here? Did you or your player get in some type of discussion, argument, whatever with the coach, or did your player simply elect not to participate in a portion of practice and the coach flew off the handle? And what age are we talking about?

At least you found out the coaches true colors before the Aug 1st deadline, did you already register and see your kid get released on-line? If not go check on the Cal south site, login.

Any coach conducting anything but distance drills in camps at the time is not permitted anywhere in socal. If you're scrimmaging or playing games it's not sanctioned.

Youth sports guidance has not be issued by the state and there is no scenario in the state where this can be bypassed currently for coached youth sports teams.
