How's your girl's 09 season going?

Not really. That is just a CDA league. Most teams are smart enough to stay out of these club leagues. I pity that Strikers team and their naïve coach. By June, he will be wondering what happened to his team. What happened was he joined the Slammers league which gives them 2 months to work on poaching his players. Ha, poor bastard..
That same Strikers team is in the SoCal Elite Spring League where we (LAPFC) are - so my take is they are just trying to get as much 9v9 experience in as possible.

Perhaps some club leagues are a poaching mechanism - especially hosted by clubs with a wide geographic reach. I would see that as hard to pull off in this SoCal Elite one we are in. For one, there are no SoCal Elite teams in our division - it's all other clubs. Secondly, they are out in Chino Hills. While our families are OK with traveling for games, I think it would be a hard sell for any of our players to pick up and go to SoCal Elite to practice every week. SoCal Elite is not really comparable to CDA Slammers - both from a geographic reach and reputation standpoint.

Our main rationale was getting going with 9v9 and doing so with good competition. Close to us we have the Villa Parke league, but it often doesn't field teams that prep clubs for what they will face in the Fall and in their normal tournaments - many rec or new teams. CSL Spring leagues I have heard are a mixed bag.

Team USA is in this SoCal Elite league, which I assume is the same team as the Silver South Champs. If so, this Strikers North team is something to take note of, as they beat Team USA last weekend (2-1). Hopefully for them Slammers doesn't take much note.

I think that’s the Strikers team that got a few key players from the Legends West white team that won State Cup Governor and then dissolved. Am I wrong?

Not sure but I saw team USA posting on Facebook then were looking for guest since they had some sick or injured kids. So not sure if that has something to do with the score. We avsc did play strikers north in state cup to a 0-0 draw . They are a good team we had some chances just couldn't finish that day.

From what I have seen, Slammers don’t need these tournaments to feed their recruiting machine, as they do it constantly (and sometimes shamelessly) at every possible other occasion.

My DD is the keeper with T-USA, we had 8 girls miss with either prior commitments, illness, or returning from injury. We joined the Spring League only a few days before it started. We had 4 guest players 1 of which was a 2010. We only had 8 players one of them got hurt in the game and we played with 7 for about 15 minutes before she went back in. We'll also be down this upcoming weekend though not as bad as before. We should at least be playing with our players.

We had our first spring league 9v9 game yesterday. Girls were a bit lost at times and a lot of punting/kickball. But there was some encouraging play and passing. Definitely tighter spaces and girls that are used to playing in tight spaces will be at an advantage. I don't think there was a single 1v1 where player had breakaway with just the goalie left to beat.

So I know many of you don't care or don't like me and/or my opinion but I'll post for informational purposes....

A week and a half ago we played at Jefferson Cup. First we played Discoveries A1 from South Carolina, lost 2-1 as we played horrible...should have won that game easily. Then PDA Legacy White, Lost 2-0. Some of you may know this team as the 2009 Instagram girl Gabrielle Parker plays for. Lastly, we played against #5 Lehigh Valley Black and only lost 3-0. Both Lehigh and PDA are extraordinary teams for this age group. I don't think it would have made a big difference, but our top player was only at about 80% still recovering from her injuries.

Here is a video of PDA who will also be at SuperCopa this year. Just turn off the music if you don't like it. I hate silent game video...I forgot to charge the camera the night before we played Lehigh, so no footage of them.

What team is your DD on? Didn't see you listed on roll call (albeit I looked quickly).

You lost me when you had "2009" and "Instagram" together in the same sentence.

Sorry you are so much better than anyone else, my bad. Social Media Seemed to work well for another SoCal girl pretty well...

The girl has over 8,000 followers and is very talented. I don't agree with what her parents are doing BTW. It is just a point of reference. A lot of young girls follow her as she is a hard worker... There are girls from your top '09 teams that also have IG accounts including both Slammers Cruz and PA. I'm sure you curse them too...

Hate to be captain obvious here but I'm more then willing to venture that over 98% of the members here don't follow 9 year old girls on ig so we have no idea who your talking about.

geez, what happened to keeping this happy and friendly lol??

But now on to a serious matter that we all need to address, I know this is has been on everyone's mind.

The Eagles team would like to know when we get the house, don't remember who bet their house, but please let us know what city its in! Also how many beds, baths, etc. Hopefully its somewhere down in Irvine or San Diego, that would really help us out with a place to stay during the summer tournaments. We also understand it is a sellers market right now, so you are most likely having a tough time finding a new place, just keep us posted on your progress.

Cheers,

Looking forward to the summer tournaments!!!!!

Both those teams are playing good soccer. A lot of foot-to-foot passing. Good vision on the attack for their age. Good build-outs. Good control for their age. Both are very respectable teams, and I don't want to take anything away from either. But going back to our prior conversations on this thread, I am not convinced that either one of these teams would be in the top 25 in Calsouth. Not all of our teams play a "possessionish" style like these, but there are a lot of teams out here who do all the same things as seen on the video, including my own (and I don't even put us in the top 50 out here). The one thing I cannot tell from the video is how fast the girls are actually playing. It looks a little slow, but that might just be because of the video.

Appreciate your opinion. As for speed, both teams are VERY fast. Lehigh is even faster. To give an example, my DD also qualified for the AAU Track and Field Nationals in the 100m. Her best time last year was a 15.70, which was in April 2018. She is the fastest on the team but we have other girls that are very fast as well. Lehigh Valley also has a girl that qualified for Nationals (14.8xx) who is faster than my DD and it is not the girl who is 5'9"...All of the teams have a good pace of play as compared to they're speed as well.
