G04 Rankings

Updated CAS G04 Rankings as of 9/19.

Not a whole lot of changes in the top ten as sample sizes are pretty solid for the big name teams and one game doesn't sway the rankings too much unless it is a surprise result. A few teams didn't report scores over the weekend.

Big mover of the week is Eagles, who moved up four spots from #13 to #9. IE Surf RB drops out of the top ten. Really close between #4-#6 and then really close again between #9-#14.

Interesting to See Arsenal slipping down since they are barely beating the bottom feeders in Tier1 if they aren't using the ECNL players. Just look at the scores and who they play you can totally see what games they bring the "ringers" in for.

Strikers, RSC and Arsenal are so close together that I would consider that a statistical tie for third in the rankings. Surf has a huge pad for the top ranking.

  • Team #3 to #7 are all very close and within margin of error.
  • By the end of this month I will start weighting the more recent games heavier than previous ones. It won't have a huge effect on the rankings, but I believe it will do a better job of showing the present strength of each team.

Thanks for the question. Just a quick look at it, they are either not beating weaker teams or not beating them by the expected amount of goals.

Let's go back to the beginning of October and look at their results vs expected results.

The Strength Rating (SRS) for SDSC is 6.66, which means they should beat a team with an SRS of 4.66 by 2 goals. A negative number in the (Actual - Expected) column is a bad result, a positive number is a good result. With that in mind...

So it looks like bad results are weighing them down. If any of the data looks bad let me know.
