2003 Champions League Playoffs

Can EGSL teams use ECNL players during playoffs?

I was wondering the same thing this past weekend. I don't know or have the answer, but I can attest to seeing an 03 ECNL player playing for an 02 EGSL team.

Well, we have reached the semifinals for both the Champions and Europa Playoffs. Congratulations to all eight teams that have made it this far. Some impressions/thoughts:

1. I did not expect DeMelo to lose in the playoffs, but kudos to Surf for knocking them out. Any comments about the game from those that watched it?
2. Congrats to Legends for beating SDSC Navy by a large margin. Comments from the game KP? Another clean sheet for the dd :)
3. Good job by Legends East. I was able to see the entire second half of their quarters versus Temecula Valley. Very close game (1-1 at half). The difference in the game was one breakaway by Legends. Their striker is a handful and did a great job collecting the ball around midfield and driving into the box and slotting it past the keeper. Temecula had chances to tie the game late, but could not get it into the back of the net.
4. Blues Holley 7-0???Really. Any comments from those who watched it?

Saturday's game of Legends Academy versus Surf Academy could be an epic battle. Too bad my dd's game is roughly four hours before that game. I am not sticking around (especially if Silverlakes smells as bad as it did this past weekend).

In the Europa Playoffs, all teams that were in the Champions Division for the Fall season have advanced to the final four. I guess that should be expected, right?

Good luck to all teams still in the mix.

Kind of a back-handed compliment to Legends. Like "you don't sweat much for a fat girl."

I did not read that comment as a back-handed compliment to Legends. I read it as.......hey, SDSC Navy was very good through the summer and fall and then got beat by four goals. That was not an expected result.

Navy is usually a good team with good possession and multiple player attack but perhaps a little weak in the back, I know when DD's team played them they had several chances on frame against us. Maybe injury to key players played a part, or maybe Legends just played extremely well. Hopefully they can get healthy for the remainder of CRL.

Legends Academy played team soccer from bell to bell. Scoring early in the first 5 min gave them the confidence and controlled the tempo. They have beaten us in the last 2 meetings (CRL & league) so maybe Navy were confident. Not sure if they have any players injured.

Next game against Surf EGSL should be a tight battle. Hoping Legends Riverside over Blues Holley.

Good luck to all the remaining teams in all divisions and stay injury free....
