NATIONAL CUP O5 2018

This is a blatant mistruth. The entire starting team for Blues was in on the second half. RSC came out strong in the second half and Blues had trouble responding. And let’s not forget the penalty kicks on two bad calls. No doubt Blues was the better team today but call it like it was.

Was it, or was it not, 5-0 in favor of Blues at halftime? If so, the game was done as a contest.

Blues 5 RSC 3. Blues were winning 5-0 at half and decided to rest most of their starters in the second half.
In one single statement you deminish both teams and those players who played today. So your point is to relay second hand information you heard from someone else. Ok! Then you insinuate the blues players who came in are basically scrubs only to be played when the game is out of hand, with your non starters comment. You continue with it and make RSC out to be some kind of over matched group of players unfit to play today. It was 5-3. Clubs aside, game aside, results aside. players deserve more respect than stupid ass statements from whoever you are. Just say the score and move on.

Hey Nutmeg, its called insight into the game. I wasn't trying to diminish anyone's play so lighten up.

If you want the facts, the score was actually 4-0 at the half but that’s neither here nor there. Once RSC scored 3 goals the stall tactics quickly ensued. Regardless, I think you should listen to “nutmeg” and say the score and move on. Blues played a better 1st half and RSC played a better 2nd. Good luck to all teams.

I’m surprised they allowed the game to continue at
5-0 wow...done as a contest! You actually wrote that & you where serious. High fives all Around. Must of been really beneath the sideline to have to be subjected to such a waste of your time. If it was over than it would of been 5-0 final, Not 5-3. Maybe petition cal south to see if your next opponent even wants to show up rather than play. Just an idea.

Whatever, don’t come on here with some stupid shi. and call it insight. I don’t care if it wasn’t your intention or not, you did diminish the players on both teams. Always makes me laugh when people post stupid then don’t like it when they get called out on it.

Surf B just edged out Arsenal in the final seconds of their game 2-1

Go ahead was scored in final seconds, which was 2+ mins beyond regulation time. Not to diminish great header off FK, but ref judgement had very clear impact on outcome. Lesson: don’t leave outcome to ref’s hands.

Must say I was a little disappointed with both Slammers and Surf today. Surf didn’t look their usual self possessing the ball and almost looked tired/nervous. Although they tried to stick to their style, it was harder for them to break down Slammers. I still appreciate the way surf tries to play though and think they’re a joy to watch.

Slammers on the other hand played very direct and looked to turn the game into a scrappy physical battle which certainly disrupted Surf’s game. It looked very much like an old Strikers and CB style of playing, putting the ball into areas, turning the team, and looking to capitalize on mistakes.

Either way these are easily the two top teams in the state and this was the National Cup Final in my opinion. Both team deserved to be in the final but unfortunately the luck of PK’s had to decide it today.

Just my two cense...

I wonder why Cal South had a tough time seeding the Slammers. They didn’t play CRL but anyone paying attention knew this was the 2017 National Cup champs. I think there was also some confusion with the 06 slammers squads as well.

I guess when you have 6 teams in a single age group, it might be hard to figure out who is playing where. Especially with club passing.

yes, this was CB 2017 with new adds. anytime you have good on good like this and there is the pressure of a 1-1 tie late the game can get a bit rough but I thought both teams played well and no doubt those two teams showed why they are at the top of the pecking order. Congrats to both teams for a well fought game.

Just for fun, and I know it’s always a interesting topic within youth development and something we overlook at this “must win” time of the year but who do you think will be the better team at U16 (when it really matters)?

Cal South seeds teams based on CRL standings after the summer CRL standings. Silly but its what is done. Slammers doesn't play CRL so they get a lower seeding, a dumb reality. Seeds 1-4 should of been Surf Slammers LAGSB and Blues. Tough to argue against that seeding.

Congrats to final four.

Three years from now who knows how many of the same girls will be on the same team. SD Surf and LAFC both put out quality teams, both put girls in college and on National Team flip a coin. Why does winning at U16 really matter?
