What will the 2003 DA teams do next year when they are on a combined 02/03 team? Less of each age will make the team, probably more 02's will make the cut. Will the 03'2 go down to the flt 1 team?
Where is info on new Super G league?
More like the 03 players who can make an impact right now will be kept with the 02 DA players. Not good if you're a late bloomer, or going through an awkward growth spurt, no matter your potential. Not difficult to see why the pseudo-academy model continues to be a sham.yes, some will not like it and some will just go with the flow. Best 03s will be kept in DA with 02s and this will already create separation
between players.
Typo the USL Super Y league Socal Expansion is what I was referring to, the NBA G league must have been on mind since we just went to game recently .

Orange County Soccer Club https://www.orangecountysoccer.com/ I know for sure is interested, LAFC had some talks, as well as LAUFA I heard so will be interesting if there are more affiliations or support for a div II/III type league for young adults / high school youth in SoCal
There were rumors in the past that USSDA would split the U16/U17 year group into single year. Not happening in 2018-2019. Can’t see why there should be any legitimate resistance to it. Hope they eventually do it.
ECNL Competition is still behind the two standard leagues BUT they are getting college coaches there because of the girl's side reputation. If I'm a boys coach I watch Discovery and Premier. Not even close. Now if ECNL has a GPA requirement then they have something but they don't.
That's the issue with the boy's side. I was chatting with a coach from a top team last weekend that has two of the best players in the age and he told me one has grades- the other not even close. So many good players but so few with the grades to play college ball.
The kids a baller but will need to go the JC route or Mexican minor leagues to have any chance.
Yeah that's the way it goes nowadays, coaches are looking almost equal at grades, citizenship, character and soccer ability. With so many players to choose from many will go with the higher gpa/sat score prospect over other ones when soccer ability is similar.
Admission is much difficult for students athletes without at least a avg gpa/sat for those schools say a 3.7gpa+ /1250 SAT. Not many coaches will go the special permit route anymore with the recent sandals to recuit great players who are academically otherwise not up to that schools standards.
Never going to happen. It would kill the high revenue sports like football and basketball. Waaaay too much $$$ at stake in those sports. Colleges can’t pick and choose what sports get special admin. for athletes. If the school you are looking at has high revenue sports then nothing will change. If they don’t but want to compete with the schools that do, then nothing will change either.I know 1st hand that universities have met recently and are considering removing ALL special permit routes for athletes. They are also adding layers of checks and balances to ensure that multiple faculty members are looking at recruits in areas that in the past have had their own pathways to admission. Speaking with a CSU faculty member yesterday, that had been the sole person in charge of athletic special permits stated: " the times are changing and you better do well in school if you want to play soccer on their campuses". CSU soccer has been one of the easier colleges to gain acceptance too. Some top athletes could gain admission with as little as a 2.0. While nothing is in stone the person said that there is a strong push to not have any special treatment.
