Games of the week....

Godinez 7-1 over SC Strikers. Could've been 20.
SC goal came when Godinez keeper was playing Point Forward. Even the keeper can play! 3 diss allowed goals and one missed PK by CDA

Same matchups with different schedules.

Strikers FC 5 or more goals vs Arsenal.

Nomads SC vs Albion. Battle of the locals, give Albion the edge, more disciplined players vs the wild slide tacklers of Nomads. Cards could fly in this one.

Pats vs RSC, toss-up if they don't draw then Pats comes away with a W.

Galaxy vs GS, the most interesting matchup could go either way but i give Galaxy the edge in this early season showdown.

close on your picks, but what's happen to the Strikers?

What team does your boy play for?

No mystery, but sadly yes, one of the Mediocre Europa teams. The boy is a mere humble son, playing with his band of brothers.

Like I have said before. Some teams are building to become top level clubs.

I think Galaxy will look really good in a few weeks. But there was too much talking by the Galaxy parents about how good they were and about how deep the bench was and how they play out the back.

I didn't see nothing like that vs GSA.
I saw the same style of play as the strikers
It possible, but the Galaxy Academy team has been training since January, I remember they had tryouts at the beginning of the year.

For the DA league; 5th week of the season, 30+ more to go until end of June season.

All teams and players will change and should improve over time so remember to be patient and not get to wrapped up about what might or did happen on any given weekend.

Players will grow, get injured, a few will come and go, some of the hotter teams will cool down as other catch up, upcoming teams will surprise some, the whole cycle of things to come.

There should be player challenges or opportunities no mater what team or club. This includes playing time if there is not enough players are better off being moved to a place where there is.

If a player has been outstanding you would hope they get the opportunity to play up a level or even an age level or at least get additional training within the club. Seen far too many clubs/teams holding down players for wins rather than moving them around. Likewise, if a player is underperforming or just not playing enough there should be some considering on making changes.

A lot of clubs and teams talk about player development but in reality, there almost always more concerned with "team" and will put the coaches or teams agenda ahead of what might be best for individual player development.

One thing I did notice about the age group change, seems like fewer players are playing up and teams are more static with fixed rosters. Is this a good thing?

Pretty soon we're gonna have proud parents coming thru posting their AYSO stats because....

Like I have said before. Some teams are building to become top level clubs.

Well said, they are team to root for sure.
For certain it will be difficult for him to retain that squad, there's several really great players on that team... WHEN will they begin to get poached. That's the question.
Reality:
99% of all players from USCS, CSL & DSL at age 20 will be playing in California League, Huntington Park, still hunting the dream. Said league is loaded with "so called" can't miss superstars of the recent past.
3 & 4 nights a week training instead of studying is a disaster in the making

Debatable;

sure some may be playing in that league, others will be off to school. Disaster in the making? We're in the USSDA league and it hasn't affected my kid's studies one bit, 4 nights a week training and straight A's with 7 classes...it's called time management. To each their own, but he wouldn't have it any other way.

Since this is first year of year/age specific groups, it is probably wise for players to stay within their age group. From what I have seen, at this age group, the top 04's would not have the same impact as they may have at U12 level. There is a long way to go for DA season, the changes in growth would probably hinder 04's. Even for regular Flight 1 divisions, you can see how some kids have grown over the summer and continue to grow now. Our boys are playing some teams with kids that are 5'8" - 6'0" 150lbs+. Size is not the absolute key, but possibly being out muscled by 20-50 pounds, you have to recognize as an potential issue.

Also coaches can get lazy and just have a static lineup and not work with other kids on their team to spark competition or development.

Great game for our boys this pass weekend , 3 minutes into stoppage time Strikers even up the score final score 2 to 2...I was happy to see another team that builds the play from there end,Strikers has fast Forwards and there midfield can move the ball. I was glad to see that our young Back line played well our Midfield moved the ball extremely well and our Forwards capitalized .Way to go Boys.....Arsenal

What happening with Real So Cal? They are not playing as they used to, I'm impressed with number 19 very good player unfortunately he can't finish and they have an amazing Goalkeeper.

Usually Real So Cal has good teams maybe they need some time to adjust, I know number 19 he played with my son, personally his a great kid good attitude towards his teammates amazing speed great skills his a ODP player and I think he just got call for the U-14 MNT. I know he knows how to score but also when he played for our team he assisted in lots of plays maybe he needs time to adjust to his new team.
