Dual Season?

SILVER ELITE
Does anyone else believe that a dual spring and fall season would be best for calsouth much like the NASL is set up. Of course the older age groups would start after highschool season.

I feel as though this would cut out all the money grabbing tournaments and place emphasis on real development along with consistent play without the win at all costs mentality of tourney play.

Also it would be better for the youth referees who will have a consistent schedule and ensure they take this on seriously and even more so professionally.

I know that we have these spring short leagues but the idea is to replicate what we have in the fall in the off season time.

As for the major tournaments like National and state cup theyd be pushed towards the summer.

I just feel like we have too much going on right now as we speak and its cluttered without quality.

Just thoughts no bashing please!

A spring/summer blind draw regional round robin spring / summer schedule. Where after X rounds, teams move up to the winners or losers brackets. 1 or 2 games per weekend, spread out over 14 weeks.
With a champion at the end. All team played at least 14 games. With eventual winners playing 20.
Done by early July with 4 weeks "dark" with no practice or games. Start up again in august to get ready for the Fall season.

Fall season concludes with State Cup in a similar format as we have today. But the games start in November and are done by 1/1 or the week of 1/1.

Everyone is dark all of January with the above mentioned Spring season starting practice in February.

I have no idea what you do with DA or ECNL.

Would not work with olders and high school.

Art, as your kid gets older, you'll see that the season DOES continue into the spring. Fall club season, winter HS season, then spring tournaments/NPL/CRL, then State/National Cup.

The reason National Cup cannot be in the summer is that the Calsouth, along with all other 5 regions, tree up to Regional, then onto the National finals that concludes in late July.

For Youngers, there are spring leagues (CSL and SCDSL both run them).

Hope this helps....
