Youngers Tryout Now???

It used to be that tryouts were in late January to March, depending on the club. Now it seems that more and more teams are holding tryout as soon as CalSouth makes transfer generally available, Monday after Thanksgiving.

So do we think that the calendar year has changed the season from Jan to Dec? No, not with the CalSouth roster restriction on state tournaments. So tryout in Dec for move in March?

At this rate, its only matter of time when tryout for the following season starts as soon as the current year roster is set. Its nuts.

Thank goodness my kids are now older and high school break negates this silliness until after March.

Some clubs trying to get that rare transfer to help their team before the deadline.
Some are trying to gauge how many teams they should field next year and make plans for coaching assignments.
Some are trying to lock down their players and collect deposits.

All are wasting practice time and disrupting the current season. this is the time of year when coaches start coaching "next year's team".
