Why we need to teach young players the importance of winning

Interesting article. I believe winning is in most kids DNA...ask the 5 yo's in AYSO who know the score while the coaches are trying to tell them that we're not keeping score.

I think it's a balancing act where winning is important but where you do not want it to overshadow player development. By not having winning be the only goal you have the flexibility for players to learn new positions and to take on risks during games. But definitely need winning as one of the top priorities...agree that it is a great driver for individual improvement.
