From a thread that Beach has announced their coaches for the DA. What does this do to ECNL? Which other 9 clubs will have DA2?

"What is the Development Academy 2 LEAGUE? (DA2)

US Soccer is supporting the creation of the DA2 league, and while we expect the competition for the DA spots to be fierce with many qualified candidates and therefore our club will also participate in the DA2 league as a founding member club.

The league will consist of up to "Nine" other "Developmental Academy Teams 2" from the Southwest Region.

The DA 2 teams will follow a similar schedule to that of the DA teams, often-times playing at the same venues, on the same days.

In order to maximize exposure for our DA 2 players, all announced DA2 coaches will be working hand-in-hand with the corresponding aged DA teams.

We believe the DA2 will help provide a direct link and pathway to the DA for our DA 2 players.

The DA2 players will also be able to continue to participate in high school soccer and will have Silverlakes and the Las Vegas Showcase built in to their annual schedule.

DA2 players also have the potential to be reassigned to the DA team on a part-time and full-time basis based upon performance and circumstance.

The DA2 platform will give Beach Futbol Club players every opportunity to continue to develop as high level performers on and off the field and the continued exposure that players of this level are typically looking for ."

DA now = your current ECNL
Sister team now = DAII
third team now = ECNL. everyone just got renamed

DA2 = Not a national league/a local league (See CSL or SCDSL)
DA2 = Teams not allowed to continue on with ECNL because ECNL didn't feel program was strong enough to support two elite teams
and new DA Clubs with no ECNL.
ECNL = National League, still best competition in many regions of the country, best national league that allows High School play, etc.

hopefully DA will change its position on high school play. Sucks for the players that are in position to make that choice.

I would rather see a player play high level soccer all season vs taking a detour for 3 months for social reasons, no development, higher chance of injury, and lower level soccer. No thanks.

It is my understanding that clubs that have ECNL and GDA will not have DAII and that the ECNL teams will be the second team. Please correct if I am wrong.

Slammers, WCFC, Blues, and Surf are sticking with ECNL (at this time) as their second team; so, there are a few ECNL teams that are doing DAII.

From a Norcal perspective, all of the current NorCal ECNL clubs will not be part of the DA, at least for this year. DeAnza was the only ECNL club that was going to be also part of the DA, but it looks like they have pulled out as well.

That's nice. I'd be inclined to let my daughter make that decision on her own though.

With two seperate leagues, this usclub soccer proposed one has no link to ussda or any way to easily move players. Da players have to go through the ussda registation process.

The similar schedule or venues to DA is going to be very challenging, ussda requests all teams to play at the same venue in certain order. If there are (4) da teams the u16/17, u18/19, U15, U14 would have to play so that's 6+ hrs of play and then if you have another set of teams you would need another field to accommodate so don't see that happening since most of the clubs (including beach) don't play at larger soccer complexes but rather single use stadium, school sites. On top of that no other teams could play there and that doesn't happen even for the boys.
