National Cup 2017...

Slammer's? The well known girls club.

Not sure what this CDA moniker is all about besides marketing but all the other clubs have these fictitious names also so par for the course I guess.

Which of these CDA teams are posters referring too? Might want to check out some of the Nat cup games. Besides a foward that played ODP haven't heard anything about CDA players in this age or any of the others either.

Do they have older teams that are competive? Besides this age-group not very much or any talk about CDA for boys for any of there other age group teams or comps participated in.

Other age groups ? Are we talking club wide or one team? I'm asking because this is a 2003 thread and I want to know if the 2003 team is just big or are they a talented team? They have a kid on ODP team that's Some good info mahrez. I didn't know that how good is he?

Colton is good squad. They benefited from 3 calls, weak PK call. Offsides breakaway and call back on Pats goal for offsides. It's soccer. PATS LA started slow like they have in other tourneys. Game should have been 3-3.

Hope they play better today

Valley United only good team out there this weekend. Even after loosing their Striker (baller) to LA Galaxy. Maybe Milan and Vargas can make a run. Albion Garton and laguna in the same group could be interesting.

Valley United is good squad. Milan will get beat. Vargas is good. Colton in F bracket played well yesterday.

Couple of groups completed their games.
Some surprises: Vargas finishing 3rd in bracket G, Soccer Life Academy winning E and CDA Martinez winning Group I.

Super Putz, I never claimed to be an expert on clubs or development. I just know what I observe as a parent of a kid on a pretty good team, that had a pretty good season. I have watched some games and seen some clubs play a nice game of passing and possesion and others where they had clear stars who could blast past other kids. I maybe wrong on the team predictions, but so effing what. This is fun blog with some knowledge offered, but none from you.

In terms of Pats-La, its a growing club. My son likes where he is playing, he likes his coach and team mates and that is the most important thing for him. I dont have any thoughts of him playing pro. I am fortunate to have a kid who has ability to play either soccer or football at this level and above. We will see how far he wants to go. I am fortunate to be able to pay, and maybe partially foot bill for others who can't quite pay. Happy to do that for the experience he gets on his team. So keep on being a Shit head. I take the bait, so it keeps this blog entertaining.

Keep on being you #SuperNatural Putz

Gotta jump in here as well. My son is also on this Pats LA team and the thing that made this season so enjoyable was the boys really liked playing together...brand new team with kids from about 6-7 different teams and it all worked out. They had a blast in San Diego (runner up surf thanksgiving) and in vegas (won it) and fell short in national cup (it happens-really impressed by Colton-not sure how they got a 4th seed after winning Coast south gold).

And I, too, have no aspirations of my son playing pro and frankly just want him to enjoy HIS soccer experience. He found it here with this team because of the players on this team...so all good with me.

And just one thing about Buddhabman's son, he is a previous ODP invite and one of our starting center backs, but happened to fracture his hip just 2 weeks ago. Wasn't able to play this weekend and probably changed the overall outcome. But as we all know injuries happen...every team gets them...and so we move on. But the impressive thing here was that he and his dad drove 4 hours round trip to get to this weekend's game so he could be there with his teammates. Great kid and great dad.

I think that Downey is an impressive result so far. They were a Silver Elite team and crushed it and finished in 1st place. So the entire season they were playing non Gold teams. I think that they can make it to another round.

Hahaha! What does ODP even mean?

I tell you these new u.s. soccer parents.

What does ODP Mean? Is it another channel for kids to be viewed, scouted, a chance to play on a "Allstar" team, or is it a way to milk naive kids/parents out of more money and time? Who knows right Super Natural?. Look any extra costs and time at the end of a long season is time money and costs most parent aren't particularly excited about giving up. However for the kids, the selection process can be exciting, if only for the fact is that they were recognized out of a huge pool of players in their age group. I don't know about all the politics and selection process. My understanding is most kids are selected from scouts watching at the national / state cups. There maybe a certain number of clubs getting 'guaranteed' spots for their top kids. Hopefully the scouts are willing and able to recognize all the kids from smaller less established clubs that happen to be playing well. Once the kids get to the tryouts, hopefully the coaches run the kids through a set of tests and not just scrimmage games to monitor and measure the kids abilities. Last time my kid was there it was just scrimmages. They probably need to do more skills testing. Now how does ODP drive kids forward in "Development" path compare to kids in CRL/DA clubs, I don't know? For kids that make the tryout team and advance it can't hurt to play the games against the teams from up north or other regions, at a minimum your kids gets more chances to play with quality players. Are there any stats on how many kids from ODP go on to play college or beyond? Any comparisons to the numbers from DA clubs?

Not trying to be combative, just want to know what people think on ODP vs DA in players growth. How well has the Cal South ODP team done recently in the 03 age group?

Look forward to seeing the second round begin.
Some good match ups in the group stage. Group E, F and H have some interesting matchups.
