They've done this tournament for 20 years so this isn't their first rodeo. Girls got screwed with being the same weekend as March Madness. Yes, hotel prices were definitely much higher than normal and limited. Let's hope they post it at least a week before the tourney!
Website now says that the girls' schedule will be posted tomorrow.
And then everyone can see just how many games for any one team get squeezed into a 24 hr period (unless there is a change in format or philsophy, there will be a number who are playing 3 games w/in 24 hrs and 4 games in fewer than 48 (eg, the U18B SD Surf team plays three 80-min games in 24 hrs and then the 4th (a 70-min game) at about 42 hrs))
Insane dk. I had to step in as father who cares for my dd safety first. I skipped this tournament 2 years in a row and it was not popular. Coach, parents and Doc sneered at me for not allowing my dd to travel to Vegas to play 3 games in 48 hours. Got the same crap during showcases when I said under no circumstance can she play back to back. Now it's even worse. I saw this in 8th grade and YELLED at the roof tops to deaf ears. I'm still here because I actually care about all kids not being over used. One game a week needs to be the standard. Forget tournaments, moo! Maybe a friendly during the week. I will also admit I was all into way too many games when she was younger and that was bad on my part. Plus, she always wanted to play and I had to deal with that as well. I got help when she was 13 and saw the light because my sage pal did this crazy life b4 me and warned me big time. His dd tore ACL, had 3 concussions and broke her wrist and broke her leg in just a few years of over use. Thank God I listened.Website now says that the girls' schedule will be posted tomorrow.

Our team has a league game on Friday in LV plus the 4 showcase games over 2 days. That means 5 games in 3 days. It's insanity. Praying and hoping for no injuries.
Wow. I think the parents and the players are freaking out that they have to play in all these games and that is sad. It's not true at all. Early in my dd Sr year, she told the coach 90 minutes only for the three game in four day showcase. He was very respectful and was amazing. Her fist game she scored early goal and a assist in first few minutes and caught the eye of a top coach who called her as we were driving home for 3 hours because of that dreaded 5 fwry. It was amazing call with a full ride offer and a little extra until the Rona talk came up. After that, she was ghosted as the kids say today. She (the coach) didn't want to deal with that because it's just too much politics. It all worked out for the best. I think that coach got fired anyways.Schedule is posted. The team my twins play on - though they will not be there b/c they recently tore their ACLs (2.5 wks apart as some of you know from a different thread) - have three 80-minute games w/in 24 hrs and the 4th (70 min) at 46 hrs. So 310 mins (the equivalent of almost 3.5 full 90s) in a 47 hr stretch (once the final minute ticks off on Sun).
They counted our league game as one of the 4 games to be played. It's still a lot, but I'll take 4 games rather than 5 in a 3 day weekend. Good luck! That's horrible. I would hope your coaches can, at the very least, reschedule that league game. Good luck.
I'm still SMFH and feel bad for a dd and her dad I became friends with. Poor thing emailed all these coaches to come watch her play at one of the showcase showdowns and she got in with 5 minutes left. One of the coaches came to see her play on the bench. She quit later in the year. My other friend dd only played HS Soccer and I just found out she will ball D3 next fall. Never played club, just rec and HS. It can be done. Nice to see you back Coach Buck.Since it’s a “showcase” and there is no trophy- hopefully coaches will be generous with playing time for everyone. (And parents won’t get mad that their kid got subbed out)
Day 1. Curious to know how it's going and the condition of the fields with all the rain.
What's the feedback from those of you attending?
I don't know about the other location but Kellog is in great shape. Grass is green and full. I was pleasantly surprised.
Silver Bowl looked like it hadn’t been mowed in over a month. Teton park was a nice turf fields x 3. But felt excluded from everyone (no shirt / sweater vendors and etc).I wasn't there but saw video of Heritage Park in Henderson and it was disgraceful.

We played at James. The grass was high and played slow, but the fields were in good shape. We saw the most coaches on Sunday morning. I'm not sure that the fourth game is the best one to scout, but we weren't expecting much anyway. We played at Bettye Wilson and Kellogg. Fields were great. Some kids definitely played more than others.
I didn’t see many college coaches, but my daughter said she did. Received a few emails on Monday. From smaller schools. Seemed to be mass emails.
