Trouble in Manteca Rangers 2.0 - Northern Cal (Who Cares?)

Who cares about the Manteca Rangers? Well, no one really. But MASL is no different from other 501c3 organizations that have been mismanaged for years. Board manipulation, lack of tax records for years, and leaders acting in their own interests are just a few examples. Please read the email below and let me know what options current or former members have to bring these issues and others like them to light. Has there been other clubs like this people have witnessed?

Hi,

Thank you for your response. Here is what I expect should happen:

1) CalNorth executive board needs to conduct a thorough investigation by interviewing all relevant parties, reviewing salient board minutes from District 8 and MASL, reviewing financial documents related to this situation including, but not limited to bank statements and tax returns during the time SG took over the finances (both times)

2) The executive board needs to immediately send a cease and desist directive to District 8 regarding the interference of a private corporation that includes MASL. This has also occurred in other clubs under ST's leadership as well. CalNorth needs to direct their local boards to remove themselves from the boards of private companies/clubs and not insist they have the right to attend all board meetings.

3) District 8 needs to be directed to take corrective action including refilling the incorporation under the elected Directors name. As of 11/12/24 BA filed it under his name (in my opinion illegally). CalNorth needs to remove themselves from any financial organization associated with MASL and relinquish all past bank statements and access to the finances. SG repeatedly refused to provide profit and loss statements as well as bank statements in the past. This should be returned to the control of the elected MASL Director and the Secretary who previously had access until a financial officer can be elected and/or appointed. SG needs to provide all the financial information required to file and correct the back taxes. CalNorth District 8 should fund all corrective action based on their inappropriate take over of MASL including, but not limited to associated legal fees and accountant fees. Personally I want my name off those back taxes.

4) As the parent board, I would expect, based on your investigation that you would take disciplinary action towards any board member who was directly involved in the situation or complicit in supporting this. Board members at the District 8 level and your executive level were well aware of the situation and the delay has led to continued financial hardships and hindered MASL in conducting business

5) CalNorth District 8 should refund MASL the costs associated with BA and SG repositioning SG's daughter TG as the DOC of the club. She was let go with a proper legal foundation.

6) CalNorth should inform the current MASL board members that were never elected, but appointed by BA and SG that they were not elected per the MASL bylaws as BA chose not to hold the required AGM and simply informed the board of his choices. That way MASL can hold proper elections for vacant positions under the guidance of the elected board.

7) Upon completion of your investigation, CalNorth should report to the proper soccer and legal authorities any actions that were not in line with the required ethics of Coaches, Referees, or Club administrators.

8) CalNorth should provide training to all district boards about the authority they do and do not have legally and the ramifications of crossing those lines.

I know this is very long and specific, but this is what’s right.

Take care,

Concerned Parent
