I did that route from Temecula in the old days. I do remember one Saturday a few years ago from Laguna when it took me 2 1/2 hours down and 3 hours back. Left early enough but coach was hard core and merciless and benched my kid for being late to warm-ups. He said, "this is like college, if your late you sit and learn how the game is played." The good thing for a dad like me, I was able to think why this sucks for the kids and parents for over 3 hours on the way back. On the way back, wife and dd sleep and I look at parked cars barely moving. Sometimes you have to be shown the truth about how hard this is on the girls and the families and boy did I. That is also one reason I came on the SoCal Soccer Forum. Another dad told me, "at least your kid saw the field in the 2nd half for 20 minutes, my kid got no play and 7 hour drive for us because we live in LA. Stay & play is insane price so poor folk are screwed. If I had to go I would just sleep in the car at the hotel across the street.
