What reasons/excuses have you and/or your team used to get out of using the required choice of hotels for a stay and play tournament?
I just got the list and the hotels are not nearly as good or cost effective as the hotels I found on my own for my team.

How many rooms is a team required to book in order to be in compliance?

Ask the tournament if they have a team buyout option. I don't remember the exact amount now, but a few years ago each family (12 kids) on our team paid roughly $50 so we can book our own hotel for a Vegas tournament.
