Which state cup should they be playing?

I'd like to know this as well - In the G05 group, CCU Socal Academy did better than Crown City United in Coast - Silver Elite South. However, Crown City United is playing Nationals and CCU Socal Academy is playing Presidents? Is there player guesting/movement/borrowing within the two clubs?

SoCal is part of CCU. SoCal is under their umbrella. Not sure why SoCal did not play in Nationals. NO in the guesting part what so ever.
SoCal Academy has only been in existence for two years. While developing the program CCU has been gracious enough to provide an umbrella organization while SoCal developed critical mass; SoCal will separate from CCU shortly but have greatly benefitted from the relationship.
Yes, the 2005's should have been in Nationals. Without going into details, it was purely a clerical error that wasn't caught in time or they would have been in Nationals.

Hoping we can get through the first two games this weekend for a chance to play So Cal Academy. It would be good for our girls to see where they stack up against them. So Cal Academy got a very friendly draw.... Playing a wild card in the round of 32 and then the winner of two second place teams in the round of 16.... I'm guessing they should cruise into the round of 8.

“Clerical Error” Really! Come-on! Not buying it. If I was a parent on this team, I would not be happy competing at a lower level after all the hard work during the season and earning the opportunity to play teams at a higher level of competition, even if the team lost all games played. As someone pointed it out in another post, this teams also played surf cup at a lower level, was it also a “clerical error”?

We were disappointed but what can be done?!? IT WAS AN ERROR.It is what it is and we aren't one of those parents that are complaining to our coach or club for every damn thing like other clubs or teams do. Not sure if you are aware BUT tournaments decide what tier we should be playing at NOT the team or club. You can call Surf and ask for yourself. There are great teams tab presidents as well

I can't speak as to the State Cup/National Cup part expect to repeat that this team should be playing National Cup, but I can say as an FYI, Surf decides which teams play which flight at Surf Cup. It's not unlike other tournaments where a team decides what flight they want to play. I know this as my DDs played at SD surf for three years before we recently had to relocate. Really miss it, was a great club to my daughters and I hope it continues to thrive.
Not a parent of any of the teams mentioned previously or the one I will mention. So, in support that tournament directors choose flights here is an example. At Surf Cup this last summer Beach LB (Perez) petitioned to play flight 1 in the 05 age group and they were denied. They went on to win Surf Cup F2 among other recent accolades.

So Cal Academy is very good team we played them twice and lost both, they finished higher in the standings then we did and we are playing National Cup. I find it hard to believe that Cal South who runs National Cup mandated they play Presidents. It sounds like it was a mistake it can happen, come its club soccer weird crap happens all the time.
