San DIego CIF rules guarantee league champions a home playoff game, except in Open Division or when their first-round match is against a higher-seeded champion of a different league. If they are not seeded into the playoff bracket, they get a home play-in game agaisnt the bottom-seeded team. This year there were few games last week.
