Rescue a dog?

Was thinking that maybe now's a good time to get a dog for the kid-- give at least a little bit of responsibility and social interaction. Has anyone else here adopted a dog during lockdown? How has it gone?

We haven't recently but in the past we've gotten a dog through a program called Cell Dogs. I have no affiliation with it, I just think it's a really neat program that can help the animals as well as the inmates they partner with.

"We rescue dogs from local shelters and enroll them in basic obedience training programs. These classes take place in correctional facilities and actively involve program trainers. For each training cycle, we make sure all dogs are lovingly adopted or promoted to our advanced training program for specialized service dog training,"

Definitely get a dog from the pound . Dog rescues are a joke, they act like dog nazi's. They have a multi page application, want to do in home inspections, demand a "re-homing fee", and want a guarantee that you'll only ever call them if you need to get rid of the dog. I am not adopting a child and I am not supporting your hobby. You may do good work but you are a real asshole. Pounds are interested in moving the dogs out and going on to the next one. Yeah, they are not letting the local Korean restaurant adopt them, but they keep them moving. (joke there, but you get the point) The only problem you might find right now is that there is not a lot to adopt. A lot of people have been thinking like you, but I say do it. I adopted another one in March, makes 4 Huskies from the local dog pounds.
