No shows in SoCal league...

Have some friends with younger players, for the 2nd time out of (3) weeks they txt me this morning saying referees are a no-show again and what they should do?

I tell them to call to see what the deal is, but nobody is around so is there a way to check to see what crew is assigned or not? Hotline for problems? Shame the kids and parents spending the time and effort only to not play due to no shows.

Any suggestions are welcome.

SOCAL sent out this note yesterday:

6. If you are a 7v7 team and a referee does not show up, play the game anyways with a parent or coach as the referee. There are no standings in these age groups so it's easier to play the game than reschedule it.

7. If you are a 9v9 or 11v11 team and a referee does not show up, the HOME TEAMS should contact their Club Official and that Club Official will reach out to the league. In many instances, referees are coming from other games are may just be running late and we can track them down. This leads to #8 below.....

8. If referees show up late, the game MUST STILL BE PLAYED. If both teams are there. PLAY THE GAME. If a team leaves because the referees are late, that will be counted as a forfeit and the referee fees will be charged to the club. With the shortage of referees and refs coming from other games/fields, they may be late. They are doing their best to get the games covered so do your best and play the game.
