LV Players College Showcase

haven't been accepted yet. Looking forward to our first time playing in Vegas.

Any pointers for Vegas newbies? Hotels to avoid. Places to eat. Things to do.

When our players were younger, we didn't like staying at hotels with casinos, because you couldn't let the girls roam from room to room. We enjoyed staying at Embassy Suites just off the strip. The parents that wanted could quickly and easily get to the casinos to gamble, and the kids had free reign of the hotel. Free happy hour reception didn't hurt either. My player and I usually stay until early Mon AM, get up early (5am) and head back home and take her directly to school. Traffic is a bear on Sunday afternoon/evening, and she and I can have a fun night in Vegas, eating food that she isn't permitted during the tournament. Crab leg buffet at Mandalay Bay, followed by some Havana Dream Pie at Joe's Stone Crab in Caesars. Her school has late start Mondays, which is perfect, and the hotel rates are deeply discounted on Sunday night.

How do u get out of using the hotel co?

I'm not sure. I know that our team always roomed together and I personally never stayed in the same hotel as they would stay pretty far off the strip in the direction of the fields. I would always stay on the strip and they have plenty of rooms for Players.

Just received an email update "We will be finalizing and informing teams in the next few days. Accepted teams list will be posted on Jan 17. "

Here we go again! Delay after delay and promise after promise of an accepted teams list being posted. My money is it will be sometime NEXT month.

I can't imagine why it takes so long to get the accepted list out. I can see it can take time to get the schedules out. Do they need help with running the credit cards?

600+ teams apply, some don't pay, they get dropped, some don't book through the program, they get dropped, it's 2 months away, what's the rush?....

Flights? Hotels? Logistics. How did some teams get away with not paying? You had to enter cc at registration.

It may be 2 months away, but considering ALL that is going on in Vegas at the same time, it pays to plan farther ahead. Just get the damn information out. What's so difficult about that. Who cares if there's a team listed that ends up getting dropped. The only people that care about an "incomplete" list are the ones who don't make the list.

It always happens during March Madness which is good and bad...
