Is it allowed for a girl’s team to play in a boy’s bracket in a tourney?

We have the Carlsbad Premier Cup this weekend and I noticed my son’s team (B2015) is playing a G15 team in their tournament bracket this weekend. Is that normal/allowed? I’ve never seen this before. I’ve seen girls on the boys teams, but a whole girl’s team in the bracket is new to me.
 
Happens reasonably often. Usually it’s a stronger girls team which has trouble finding difficult opponents.

Drops off around U13 when the boys hit puberty.
