The rumor is financial instability leading to possible insolvency. Coaches were not being paid which lead to U19 disbanding. I believe the younger teams will play out the season and move on to other clubs next year. Most U19 players have moved to other MLS team practices in the area or stopped playing.U19 Breakers were in and now they are gone. Anyone know what happened? Maybe a points discrepancy?
Didn't they partner with Almaden at one point too?The rumor is financial instability leading to possible insolvency. Coaches were not being paid which lead to U19 disbanding. This program was always a risky endeavor, only fielding 1 team per age group with no lower teams supporting the costs. Originally based in the Santa Cruz area during the"DA" days they started practicing and recruiting in the Bay Area. Many DA/MLS clubs were not happy and eventually the MLS league pushed them down to Watsonville. Not an ideal location for the numbers they needed. Early on they had partnered with Woodside to help field teams. They eventually fielded the MLS De Anza Force 07s during the U14/U15 timeframe when their head coach, Sergi, had a disagreement and took the entire team with. Sergi was still coaching the U19 up until a few weeks ago.
