ALBION San Diego is proud to announce it has completed soccer’s full professional pyramid by merging with San Diego 1904 FC to become ALBION San Diego Professional Soccer Club.

Starting in March 2022, ALBION San Diego will compete in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA), the third division of professional soccer in the United States, and a sanctioned professional league within U.S. Soccer.

i honestly don't know if this is good or bad- but allegedly 1904 was being run by the league and that's not good, so at least they found someone to take it over. historically these kinds of partnerships(?) don't last long, but i'd love to be proven wrong.

I assume this just means that Albion's NPSL team gets the 1904 slot in the NISA league. 1904 fades away.

i haven't heard any mention of how they'll manage NPSL and NISA, but I'm not really plugged into it.

The League office was running 1904, keeping it on life support, and it reads like Albion is taking it over and rebranding to align with their vertical youth-to-pro structure. I suppose they could rebrand the NPSL team to ASDPSC and use it as a reserve team. NPSL in california doesn't seem very healthy either, tbh.
