Anyone have experience with LA Galaxy’s Galaxy Discovery Program?

Curious for anyone who got an invite from a tryout or Elite Camp, can you share your experience? Curious about the quality of the training, whether you found it useful to do 32 hours of additional training alongside your club. And whether it’s worth the money, thanks!

My son did the discovery camp last season. Quality of the training was good and there were many good kids of all ages. They probably could have built a strong team just from these discovery kids. A few kids were scouted into the Academy. If you break down the cost, it is really not a bad deal.

You have to pay for GDP now? We had done it twice before (was free both times) so training w/ quality players and coaches was definitely worth it. They would select 1 or 2 players by the end to join the academy so it's definitely a pipeline (although chances are low).

Yeah sadly it’s expensive now. $1296 for 16 training lessons (8 in fall, 8 in spring) that are 2 hours long. I don’t really have hopes of an academy offer for my 10yo afterward, mostly just some added development with a new coach.

We did the new, paid for version that just finished this summer. It was excellent: high quality training with talented kids. No academy offer at the end, but they allege they'll keep monitoring progress of kids who went through the program.
