Very interesting statistic I found in preparing for "How to Become a Referee" webinar:

Of those Referees currently registered for 2025, 31% are first year referees, which means on just about every youth match you will find one referee that has very little experience.

The entire purpose of the amended Referee Abuse Prevention Policy is to help us retain referees so they are able to gain the much needed experience to officiate your games. Please help us with recruitment and sideline behavior.

To give it some context, think about a player joining your son/daughter's U14-19 team with little to no experience. How well will they know the positions, the tactics, passing, receiving, defending and scoring? How well do you think they will perform? Do you think yelling at them will help?

Thank you,

Lee
