Here’s the sad reality for Donald Trump — he’s being used, and he’s too stupid to realize it.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel sorry for him, but he is. He’s the far right’s useful idiot.
Sure, he thinks he’s president. He won the 2024 election and holds the title of President of the United States, but he’s not really running things. The far right — including the architects of Project 2025 and the other sycophants who surround him — are in charge. Trump’s just too oblivious to realize it. They flatter him, tell him what he wants to hear, and shield him from reality, which feeds right into his weak and insecure ego.
These people don’t care if we have an economic crash. In fact, I think they’re hoping for one. When people are distracted by trying to find a job or feed their families while the wealthy buy up assets for pennies on the dollar, most Americans will be too focused elsewhere to notice the damage being done to the poor and middle class.
They’re cementing Trump’s legacy as one of the weakest, most incompetent, and worst presidents in U.S. history — and they couldn’t care less. They’re not worried about the legacy of their useful idiot as long as he keeps giving them what they want. They know his time in power is finite. He’s 80 years old, so it’s not as if he’ll be politically relevant for very long after he leaves office.
Their goal has always been to leverage a useful idiot in power to accomplish what no other president with any sense of morals or decency would ever do. Sure, Trump will go down in history as a president who seemed to be deliberately trying to cause a recession, increase inflation, get the U.S. wrapped up in another war in the Middle East, and raise taxes on the poor and middle class — but he’ll be the one blamed for it, not them. The vast majority of Americans will never know their names. They’ll benefit from everything Trump does while his legacy carries the blame.
Yet he’ll never realize this because he’s an emotionally stunted, insecure, walking example of the Dunning–Kruger effect. His handlers feed his insecurities, shield him from reality, and keep him saturated with lies and propaganda — much like they do with the voters they’re trying to influence.
That’s the real difference between Trump’s first and second terms. During his first four years, he had adults in the room who pushed back — people who at least tried to rein in his worst instincts. They even told him the truth from time to time, and for brief, infrequent moments, he listened.
Not this time.
Those people abandoned him after his attempted coup in 2020 and the four years that followed, as he went further down conspiracy rabbit holes.
Now he’s surrounded by people who are manipulating him for their own benefit.
So when facts show that most Americans oppose his war, his economic policies are ruining the economy and pushing us toward a recession, and costs are continuing to rise — of course they tell him not to worry or that none of that is true. They’ve convinced him it doesn’t matter, that every terrible thing mentioned is actually “good,” and that “Americans support it.” You can even hear right-wing pundits and voters echoing the same talking points.
It’s all part of their agenda for their useful idiot.
When his approval ratings sink or polls show Americans are quickly souring on his presidency and policies, who cares? It’s all “fake news.” He’s told by the people around him, “Everyone loves you. You have a mandate. You’ve never been more popular. Those are fake polls!”
It’s all lies — but he doesn’t realize that because he’s surrounded by people telling him exactly what he wants to hear.
Every sign points to Putin manipulating Trump, using him to advance Russia’s interests at the expense of long-standing alliances. And the isolationists who oppose global cooperation love it. All they do is praise Trump for his “masterful” negotiating with the Russian dictator, even as he’s being outmaneuvered at every turn and it’s clear Putin has absolutely no respect for him.
Even as Russia has been helping Iran target American soldiers, while our allies have ignored and mocked his demands that they bail him out of the crisis at the Strait of Hormuz, they tell him, “We’re more respected than ever. Ignore the fake news — they’re all out to get you.”
The people Trump has surrounded himself with are using him as a useful idiot to get what they want — regardless of the cost to his legacy or the country.
And the irony is that the very reason they’re able to manipulate him is the same reason he allows it to happen — he lacks the self-awareness to see what’s right in front of him.
He’s a Dunning–Kruger imbecile, a low-IQ moron who thinks he’s a “genius” and is too stupid to realize that practically everyone around him is doing nothing more than using him as their useful idiot.
