Nope, no communication for the majority of clubs. Leaving parents in the dark is somehow seen as the best plan.
I am on an RSL wide newsletter, and per that email RSL was going to start putting kids with their newly aligned age group during practices...but as I do not have a player there I cannot speak to that, if they are signing up in tournaments with new teams, or if case by case basis. This seems to be the best approach honestly, a 'soft opening' so to speak....lets players and parents know before the crazed tryouts what next season may look like, and helps Coaches plan.
Also, I think what we will be told as parents may not be what actually fleshes out? Example if you have a top team and synergy and they tell you you will be able to stay together and play up, will the team really? Other unicorns show up at tryouts and kick the younger top kids to the curb as the unicorns are big and fast...
Though some may be immune to it, for example Next Level Black teams play up anyway, and often out of State as there isnt much competition for them here...so does it affect them if they are competing at that level anyway, or business as usual?
Also interesting that RSL has released their MLS ID Sessions, but Rising hasnt yet? I havent looked to see if others have yet, Del Sol, or any of the MLS 2 clubs... I get the sense that the players for larger clubs are birthdays on a spreadsheet and unless the Coach states...keep these players together for their development...players will be placed within alignment of their birthday, with the few talented exceptional players where it is more advantageous to keep that player up. Nothing like the Wild Wild West of Phx Club soccer where on average we change clubs every two years as uniform kits come out.
I am more so trying to understand the relevance of ASA at this point....after 9v9 not many compete in it. Those with youngers, whats the point with a few Academy play dates per year...Not sure if you say the new league being formed in the West Valley to address what the State League should be doing? A mini youth league with consistent games for a reasonable price, at predictable "close to home" locations, for WV families.
As more clubs get to pick up ECNL-RL, MLS2 etc... they continue to dilute and dilute the pool of players, then these leagues prevent platform age players from playing talent within state...unless all sign up for the same tournament. But this is not a sustainable model for 'regular' families to participate in.
All that to say. With too many leagues watering down everything, ASA and other State Leagues realizing their relevance is shrinking as if you win State Cup now you just pass Regionals and go straight to Nationals? Seems desperate.
Sorry for all the tangents but it is all a convoluted web.
