EC Surf ~~~~~~>>>> Rebels

Strong rumors that Rebels will take over EC Surf
Has anyone heard anything?

Would be a huge amount of teams.
A lot of talent left EC Surf over the last year once Rebels got ECNL on the boys side.

Having Jason messing things up since the switch from Liverpool certainly hasn't helped things the last few years.

Does this mean EC surf will also implement the age change 1 year early like the rebels instead of waiting on SoCal to implement it for 26 season?

I wonder if they will operate as a separate entity or fully integrated.

Would be nice to have some ENCL/ECRL in East County and not have to travel as far for trainings.

Problem is lack of quality fields in East County.
Grossmont High is used by Sporting California now.
There is always Seau.

WIth Jason Aldous being hired by Albion maybe they will get to use Grossmont College.

With Surf losing a few affiliates lately, are they abandoning their "jersey selling" program or are the affiliates just realizing that the only thing they're getting are jerseys?

Is Surf losing power and influence since they don't have MLS Next on the boys side (girls are still outstanding)? The Surf Cup is nothing like what it used to be.

They won't move their ECNL teams from their Hub in Chula Vista. Never going to happen. One of two things will happen.
1-EC Surf changes names to Rebels EC, and everyone has to buy new uniforms. Nothing else will change, same fields, coaches, players, teams etc..
2-Rebels brings each EC Surf team into the Rebels orginization. The EC Surf teams will become the 4th, 5th, 6th teams for each age group.
Most likely option 1 is what will happen.

Jason coaches the Grossmont womens team, so I doubt EC Surf Rebels will be taking that field.

From their webpage: "The merger means that we have become one club named Rebels San Diego. This means that the player pool and geography of the Club has grown. All players will have a pathway starting from the Junior Academy through 7v7 and 9v9 to the ECNL, ECRL, Elite 64, ECRL So-Cal, NPL and Socal Soccer League. The merger will enhance administrative resources, coaching development and college placement programs."
