Schools, especially institutes of higher education, educate people to think for themselves, to have the tools to push forward. Not exactly a “conservative” goal. Your attempt to equate education with indoctrination only gets traction with, well simply put, dumbasses and those that don’t want an educated populace. Dumbasses are easier to control.
