The logistics for deporting every illegal is not much different than processing some and deporting others. Both are impossible. The government doesn't have the competency, among other things. Plus, neither party has the will to do either approach. They'd rather keep it as a political football.

There is at least 14 million illegals. Even if we could keep our current pace of deportations, which is highly unlikely, it would take 30 years to deport all illegals. It's a right wing pipe dream. The best we can do is put a dent in the issue. So the most effective approach is to target criminal aliens and not waste time hanging out at immigration hearings deporting aliens that are trying to do the right thing.

You're assuming they're trying to do the right thing. You're assuming lots of things. My point is, trying to decide who to give a break to on a case by case basis is a "pipe dream" as you put it. The issue was caused by the globalist tactic of trying to flood our country, and many others, with left wing voters. The pendulum swung and now the only thing that can be done is deportation.
My original point is that it's impossible to try and give credence to any "good" people who are caught up in it. The use of the resources would screw all the people who did things they right way to begin with.

The conditions you propose, on the surface, are reasonable, However, the Left will simply have their judges rule to require that every illegal have due process to show they have met the conditions. You are blind to this because of your reasonable nature and unwillingness to understand what the Left continually shows us - everything they do is about their power and not to promote the good of the country.

We all soft spots for those who are stuck in the middle and have been taken advantage of. I tried to help a plumber that was breaking the law, taking advantage of everyone and under cutting the competition. Plumbing is big business in SoCal. This guy was paying undocumented plumbers under the table, just like espola was doing with his nanny. It happens all the time. Basically, he paid the "plumbers" cash for cheaper labor costs and asked them to be on call for emergencies at no cost to the owner. He made millions cheating the system and cheating the other plumbing companies following the law. The plumbing owner got his kids into college, so I guess it's ok because it's the not the plumbers kids fault.

Cut off their welfare and let’s let things play out. Behavior is driven by values and incentives. Remove the incentive to stay here without working. Self-deportation is the best deportation.

That's certainly a hyper-partisan view and no doubt that the left is apoplectic over their loss of power. The left thinks it is helping people with its "everyone gets a trophy" mentality which is actually empathetic suicide. They only believe in individual accountability when its someone on the right and believe the government should provide. Like Baldref said its a globalist view. It's not just power.

Adapt and overcome. Life isn’t fair and mistakes are made from birth to death. Monday morning quarterbacks are pretty much undefeated. We had/have far worse issues involving healthcare that most all the other modern countries don’t. That list is long and unacceptable . . . but not ripe for political finger pointing.
